CASTING  ADORABLE 4-5-YEAR-OLDS FOR A DOCUMENTARY SHORT
Date of birth must be between November, 2007 and March, 2009.

About the project. Jen Rudin Casting is casting a documentary short film about life from the perspective of five-year-olds. The theme is that kids have richer inner lives than we could ever imagine—and we adults have so much to learn. So what's it like to be five, really? What we’re looking for. We are casting either one adorable 5-year-old (boy or girl) or a group of adorable 5-year-olds (boys and/or girls) who have an interesting story we can capture. The story doesn’t have to be epic. It just has to be meaningful from the kids’ perspective. Something s/he/they are passionate about, or scared about, or excited about.

Location can be anywhere in the continental US.

What production will entail. Shooting will take place over two or three days in October or November. Parents will coordinate with producers on scheduling.

There will be some compensation.

The finished film. The film is expected to be five to ten minutes long. It will play in film festivals and online. You will receive tickets to the festival premiere. We are aiming for the top. This film will also serve as a proof-of-concept for a larger series and/or feature length documentary.

Please send us a video clip of your child. You can send the clip itself or send a link to YouTube. Iphone, cell phone video, or cheap camcorder recordings are great. We don’t care about “production value”; just the child and his/her story. In this clip, please:
Make sure we can see the child’s face clearly.
Have the child state his/her first name and age.
Ask the child questions that get him/her talking. Here are two questions to start:
Tell me about something you really love.
What’s it like being a younger/older brother/sister?
Prompt the child however you like. The point is to hear from the child about their life in a way that’s authentic to them.
Please include any thoughts you have about what the story could be. It could be as simple as: “My kid loves playing soccer. His season starts in a month.” Or: “My kid is obsessed with Legos.” Or: “My kid is about to have a new brother and doesn’t know what to think about it.” Anything that is true to the child.
