LOGLINE: Three grandmas battle to the death to become the only baker in town.
STORYLINE: Evelyn, Virginia and Cecilia own the best bread factories in town: Grandma Evelyn’s, Granny Ginny’s and Grandma Cecilia’s. But customers are complaining about this redundancy, and each grandma gets a letter from the grocery chain headquarters with an ultimatum: “deliver a superior loaf to the regional office or lose your contract.” This brings out the inner evils of these women, who sabotage and murder to be the only baker in town. When the winner arrives at the regional office, however, she learns that the whole thing was a con…with sweet old Virginia as the mastermind.
CHARACTERS:
EVELYN, 60-70. A refined, wealthy businesswoman. She’s made millions by selling her bread, but has lost her soul in the process. She’s classy and alluring on the outside, and shamelessly passive-aggressive on the inside. Her greedy and competitive nature will drive her to cold-blooded murder. Compare Meryl Streep in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. LEAD
VIRGINIA, 60-70. A sweet, gentle granny. Virginia has run a successful bread factory for years, and has given back to the community generously. She’s the sort of old lady that can make a total stranger feel like family. She sees the best in people and never raises her voice. But within her lovely heart are wiley ideas that lead her to con her best friends out of business. LEAD
CECILIA, 60-70. A spunky, feminine diva. Though she uses an EX-scoot to get around, Cecilia is no cripple. It’s more like a tank than a wheelchair, and she’s the general of her own successful bread-baking army. She’s not as powerful or wealthy as Evelyn, but she plays dirty and makes her own attempts on Evelyn’s life. SUPPORTING
MRS. MEYERS, 30-40, Caucasian. She’s the perfect wife and mother, right out of a 1950’s soap commercial. He makeup and living room are pristine. She’s always wearing pearls, and an apron. Her greatest pleasure in life is making delicious meals for her husband and son. But when rats and sewage are mixed in with the dough, Mrs. Meyers accidently serves some nasty sandwiches. SUPPORTING
MR. MEYERS, 30-40, Caucasian. He’s a Leave-it-to-Beaver kind of dad. Slick hair, bright smile, bland cardigans. After another pointless day at the office, he loves coming home to a delicious meal. The taste of human feces is the last thing he expects at the dinner table. SUPPORTING
TOMMY MEYERS, 10-14, Caucasian. A fat, corny, spoiled little boy who always gets what he wants. His propeller-hat and lollipop are never far from reach. The only thing he loves more than his mother is food. And no matter which variety of grandma-themed bread he chooses, something doesn’t taste right. SUPPORTING
TECHNICIAN 1, 20-30, Male. He is a lab-coat wearing analyst that works for Evelyn, the most heartless business woman in town. He’s let her walk all over him for long enough. So he joins forces with Virginia to set up an elaborate con that buries Evelyn up to her neck in her own greed. SUPPORTING
