BYU 419 Short Film Auditions

 

 

This is a second round of auditions for this project. If you have previously auditiioned for this project, you do not need to attend again. Casting will be getting back to us shortly if you are selected.
Auditions for short film, "Jackie O" which is in production and set to shoot Jan 29, 30, Feb 5,6, 12,13, 2010.  
 
The story is comedic but deals with serious issues at it's heart. Jackie, a police woman, is driven by justice, so much in fact that she forgets how to be merciful. With help from her boss and a young man named Jose, she learns kindness.  

Below is the character breakdown for the roles they are currently looking for.  
 
Pay will be negotiated.
 
Auditions will be carried out by appointment on Friday, December 4 from 4:00 PM to 9:00PM in the Harris Fine Arts Building (HFAC) Room #F-556 on the BYU Campus in Provo, Utah
 
CHARACTERS:

 

Jackie Obrien: Heavier set lady. Parole officer (29 - 39).  If Chuck Noris, Rambo, and Crocodile Dundee lined up, she could give each of them a run for their money.  She is eccentric, lacks social graces and is not in to makeup.  She is justice personified but enforces it to extremes.  Suspicious of everyone, she sees the justice system as slow and too easy on criminals.  Knows neither fear nor limits.  She is alone in the world but has learned to live with it.

 

Jose: A young Mexican man (early 20's). Wants to study fashion design. Seemingly unaware how others might perceive him, or doesn’t care. A gentleman. His gentle nature is misinterpreted as weakness though he is courageous. Big heart. Hopefull

 

Cliff: A male parole officer. Mousy and a tich spineless. Tries to be agreeable. Fulfilled in his work and encouraging. Looks for best in people.

 

Darren: A religious white male. Out of touch with the rising generation and tries too hard to be hip. Loves sweater vests and slacks. Hates profanity

 

Waitress: Strong. Resilient. Attractive. Quick on her feet. Smart

 

Pietro: Street smarts. Caring, but firm. Takes pride in having turned from a life of crime. Wants to pass on what he has learned to those needing a hand. 


Stranger: A hard working but poor man with stained clothes. He looks a little haggard, but is kind. He runs out of gas and has beg for some change.
 
Cholo: Sees himself as macho. Threatening. Loud and obnoxious.
