SLCC Short film to be submitted to appropriate festivals

Synopsis: Pragmatic Repudiation is a story of loss, rejection, distrust and detachment -- all an emotional menagerie that all men once must face in their wizened years. No one knows these feelings more than Lester. After struggling through the loss (and reattachment) of his right hand in a construction accident, Lester must face these emotions head-on in an all new light. There has been a sinking feeling deep in Lester's psyche since the accident; his hand is nothing more than a painful nuisance, an alien entity, a threat. Struggling with his staunch views of "what is natural" and hopeful yearning for life to reach tranquility once again; Lester has risked his marriage, health and his very sanity for normalcy.

Based upon a real-life medical condition, Pragmatic Repudiation shows us the will and determination of the human condition, stubbornness, and the lengths at which one may take one's self to better find one's self.

There are four speaking roles:

1) Lester - middle aged man, once a skilled carpenter, now rough around the edges, struggle with depression, hopes that his turbulent life will return to tranquil normalcy.

2) Molly - middle aged women, Lester's wife, once a comfortable homemaker, now a cold and overwrought  breadwinner, unsympathetic to her husbands misfortune.

3) Dr. Breheimer - Psychiatrist -  female, a young (early 30’s) psychiatrist with a fresh P.H.D. She rigorously jots down a constant stream of observations during their interviews and scrutinizes all of their conversations.

4) Doctor  Thomas MD - male, young (late 20‘s to early 30‘s) and out-going fellow with flowing hair - he is a friendly, concerned family doctor.
