Film Makers and Actors in Boise

         

BOISE, ID - May 29, 2013   The month of June will bring three exciting and professional workshops on all aspects of film making to the Treasure Valley!

“Our goal is to get actors and film makers to start their careers with a realistic understanding of what that career consists of from hands-on work to the industry lingo,” says Catrine McGregor, Producer and Casting Director, “I wish someone had done the same for me when I was learning to play golf – I wouldn’t have to relearn how to swing the right way!  When I started, I learned the nuts and bolts of the film industry by working on studio films like Blade Runner and Carrie. That background was invaluable, and that’s what we want to share.”

Greg Green, who wrote, directed, and co-produced the Boise-made film Three of a Kind  (winner of the Houston International Film festival)brings his knowledge of directing, writing, cinematography, lighting, etc… to the table. “We have so many wonderful, creative fledgling film makers in Idaho that need to learn to spread their wings professionally. Catrine and I feel strongly that film makers need to understand the process from A-Z, from funding to distribution, and all of the fun film making in between. The advent of the great very low price cameras does not make anyone a film maker. I’m pretty sure that Ansel Adams could take a better picture with a throw-away camera that I could with the best Nikon on the market!”

Besides Producing, Catrine McGregor brings a tremendous understanding of the world of acting. She is a CSA (Casting Society of America) casting director who has cast over 400 films, TV shows, IMAX movies, commercials and CD-Roms. She has taught her acting workshops all over the world with great acclaim. “I have taken well over 100 acting/auditioning workshops,” states actor Randal Malin, “but Catrine’s is one I will take over and over. Every time I study with her, I feel so confident about my work that I want to redo every audition I’ve ever done! She knows this industry and knows how to share it better than anyone I’ve ever met.”

·         Starting with a good script, funding, casting, scouting locations, what equipment to use, how to put a crew together and ACTUALLY film scenes that will be used in a feature, which will mean an IMDB credit! Also: Marketing, Creating a Buzz, etc…
