Synopsis: Returning home to Las Vegas after weeks of college road shows, young stand-up comedian Jackson Gilbert is excited to stop touring & focus on launching his comedy career from home. Jackson's girlfriend Natalia, who was growing more distraught at his habitual physical absence, is thrilled at the idea of Jackson finally settling down.
His first week back in Vegas, Jackson's best friend and comedy manager, Phil, informs him he is a candidate in a major TV network's talent search. Desperate to make a name for himself, Jackson agrees to hit the road in the hopes of capturing new sets to submit to the producers. Disappointed at him leaving again, and frustrated at his lack of commitment to anything but his comedy, Natalia begins to question their future together. Slowly, the two struggle to come to terms with what they want in life, and Jackson learns he must decide what's most important, his relationship or his career.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
[JACKSON] (Lead) Male, 27. Caucasian. Jackson is a charming and talented comedian. He's the type of guy we empathize with when things go wrong and we easily root for on the contrary. Needs to have a background in stand-up comedy and be able to pull off a scruffy beard look for some scenes.
[NATALIA] (Co-Star) Female, 28. Caucasian. Natalia has been dating Jackson for over 7 years and comes to realize they are heading in different paths. We are looking for someone with a subtle beauty who is put together and can pull off a late 20's professional woman. Prefer dark hair, but willing to see other options.
[PHIL] Male, 28. Any ethnicity. Phil is Jackson's best friend and sidekick. He always has the best intentions for his friend although a perpetual screw up. We are looking for someone who looks mid to late 20's with a charming look yet the guy who everyone loves.
[HAYLIE] Female, 30. Any ethnicity. Haylie is Natalia's pregnant best friend. She hates men as a result of having been left by her late boyfriend.
[MRS. GILBERT] Female, 60. Caucasian. Mrs. Gilbert is a stay at home mom and the product of botox overdose. She's an absolute sweetheart although a bit too blonde at moments.
[MR. GILBERT] Male, 60. Caucasian. Mr. Gilbert is the biggest supporter for his son. Think Dustin Hoffman in Meet the Fockers.
[JERRY] Male, 50. Caucasian. Jerry is a burnt out comic that thinks he's still a relevant big shot. He's a Bob Saget type comedian.
[GRANDMA] Female, 70s. Caucasian. She's a stoic woman with a subtle offbeat comedy. Looking for a woman who can double as a Betty White.
