LVLT announces Open Auditions for

"The Lady in Question" by Charles Busch.

Auditions Dates and Times:

November 17 and 18 at 7pm

Location:

Las Vegas Little Theatre 3920 Schiff Drive

All Roles are Available.

Gertrude Garnet (35-50, pronounced “Gar-NAY”)

The former Barrelhouse Gertie, Kissing Kitten of the Keys, now a glamorous, internationally acclaimed concert pianist. Her grand, very affected manner disguises her honky-tonk background.

Kitty, the Countess of Borgia (35-50)

Gertrude’s longtime sidekick from her vaudeville days. An attractive blonde, wisecracking, tough as nails but with a heart of gold. Kitty can affect a high tone when it’s required.

Professor Erik Maxwell (30-45)

A handsome, dashing American academic, on a mission to rescue his mother, Raina Aldric.

Baron von Elsner (30-50)

A dignified, imposing man in his forties. A cold-blooded killer with a silky charm – and a need for his mother’s approval.

Baroness Augusta von Elsner (45-65)

White-haired and magnificent, she is the Baron’s mother. Her aristocratic charm masks an evil, cold spirit.

Lotte (18-25)

The Baron’s teenage niece. The picture-postcard of a German maiden … and a homicidal little fiend.

Raina Aldric (50-65)

Erik’s mother, imprisoned for her anti-Nazi activities. A beautiful woman, fragile but still vibrant. She lives on drama and speaks in the manner of the wildly flamboyant stage actress she is.

Professor Mittelhoffer (50-65)

An anti-Nazi activist, he is a kindly, eccentric old man.

Heidi (18-25)

The professor’s daughter. She is very pretty, courageous and an emotional spitfire. Her fragile, Dresden-china doll appearance belies her fierce temper.

Karel (20-30)

A handsome Nazi storm trooper, torn between allegiance to Hitler and love for Heidi.

Hugo Hoffman (30-40)

An intense, high-strung painter. A touch of Peter Lorre.

Dr. Maximilian (40-50)

An elegant Nazi aristocrat who conducts human experiments.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Picture and Resumes are accepted but, are not required.

It’s Germany on the verge of World War II and Prof. Erik Maxwell is on a mission to free his mother, Raina Aldric, from Hitler’s dungeons. But in order to do so, he must ingratiate himself with the cruel Baron von Elsner. Into this intrigue wanders vain and politically oblivious concert pianist Gertrude Garnet. She and her hard-boiled traveling companion, Kitty, have eyes only for the Baron’s family jewel vault. Will Gertrude awake from her self-absorption? Will she succumb to Erik’s advances – or the Baron’s? Will she escape the vengeance of Baroness Augusta? The answers can be found in this loving sendup of World War II thrillers, by the author of “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife.”
