Rehearses late winter; shooting scheduled to begin approx. early Spring
2010. Zemira: female, 14-16, protagonist, nicknamed Zee, has aspirations of being a famous poet and writer one day despite growing up in the South Bronx, very intelligent, although highly emotional and a smart-ass, has grown very tired of her mother and father's contradictory nature (constant drug use and violence against each other while always telling their kids to do the right thing), has begun to rebel against them by being out at all hours with her best friend or her boyfriends, seeking the love and acceptance that she thinks she needs, but her empty search for those things is catching up to her, LEAD; Jeanette: female, 34, Zemira's mother, high-strung, abused, caught up on drugs, now trying to stay clean and make a stable life for herself and her two children, has finally let go of being so independent and mistrusting and has learned to seek out help from other people, but has no idea what she'll do if this doesn't work out for her; Robyn: female, 15, Zemira's best and only
friend, wild, crazy, spoiled, obnoxious but can also be a
