We are holding auditions for a local indie feature this coming Saturday 28th from 9 to 5pm. Location TBA. The film will be shot in a period of 2 to 3 months, weekends, ON and OFF. The script is 124 pages long. It is a paid gig.

Logline:

When members of a dysfunctional family are reunited by the death of their father, they are faced with painful, humorous, and ultimately poignant reminders of the meaning of love.

Note: The movie also deals with the effects of PTSD in military families.

Characters description and traits

Jeremy Bliss: mid 30's. Average body time and height(5'10"-6 max), blue eyes-kind look, soft features.

Traits: complicated, insecure, entrepreneurial spirit, rude, argumentative, ambitious, loves collecting toy cars since he was a kid, wants to be successful in life but can't get through the wall of insecurity, always dealing with personal daemons and the painful memories from his childhood.

Alice Bliss: late 20's early 30, pretty, friendly look but also able to express certain sadness through eyes, long hair-short hair(good) not shaved or bold. Light and dark eyes OK.

Traits: She works as a stand up comedian, goofball, life of the party, insecure, frustrated, in need of affection, childish at times, frank, jovial, cries for no reason. Brings positive balance to the family.

Dante Bliss: mid 30's, singer-songwriter, shaggy hair, average height(5'10"-6 max), good looks. Actor-Musician preferred. Light and dark eyes, OK.

Traits: suffers from anxiety(stage fright,phobia) insecure, timid, introvert, calm, soft spoken. great singer, sings his heart out, soulful. . ., he's a one album singer, only one hit song then disappeared.

About the project:

This is an ultra low budget feature so the rates are per project only (one time fee). Selected actors will get half of the money up front and the other half after movie is completed.

Rates for all roles: $450/project

We are still working the filming dates. First of all we want to make sure our cast is solid and ready. Because of the random nature of the shooting dates we will be able to work with everyone's schedule. We will have one table read with complete cast and after that three complete rehearsals with just main cast.

We are looking for an On-Air Talent to interview many suspension representatives at the SEMA 2013 show in Las Vegas. The show is from November 5 to November 8th but we are only looking for two days of work. The hours will be between 9:00am to 5:00pm. All questions will be written out for the interviewer. The Lake Tahoe Community College Theatre Arts Department will hold auditions for its fall theatre production of “The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later” on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Duke Theatre.

The production commemorates the 15th anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s death. Shepard was a gay University of Wyoming student who was tortured and left for dead while tied to a fence in Laramie, Wyo., in October 1998. Several events will be presented at the college in association with the production, including a screening of the brand new documentary film, “Matthew Shepard is a Friend of Mine.” Shepard became an important icon in the fight for gay rights – a fight that has led to remarkable change in recent months, a press release stated.

“The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later” will explore how the event that became international news still haunts and shapes Laramie today. Five men and five women will be cast to play multiple characters ranging in age from 18-65. Scripts of the play are available in the LTCC Library for 48-hour checkouts.

Rehearsals for the production will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings near the start; the number of rehearsals will increase as performance time nears. Performances will be held Nov. 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23; Sunday matinees will be held Nov. 17 and 24.

Desert Star Playhouse is holding auditions for productions in their 2013 and 2014 seasons.  All roles are open.  Adult actors 18 and older are invited. Rehearsal times and dates TBD. We saw many of you at our open auditions last week and would like to see more fine talented actors at our followup audition.

Prepare: A minimum 1-minute comic monologue, joke or story that showcases any and all abilities to perform different characters and impersonations., and 16-24 bars of an upbeat song for a vocal audition. Sheet music required.  Accompanist will be provided.  No minus tracks or a cappella singing.  

Actors Needed: Males and females, ages 18 and older. Must be familiar with comedy; minimal dancing required. All roles are paid.
