INT. LIVINGROOM - DAY
Bonnie, a 70 something year old woman who has recently lost
her husband to a heart attack sits alone in her living room.
Surrounded by memories of the past and a pile of bills she
is not sure what to do with, she calls for help.
CRISIS LINE OPERATOR 4
UNI Crisis Line this is Mary, how
can I help you?
BONNIE
Oh, I’m not sure where to turn. I
guess I just want to hear another
human voice.
CRISIS LINE OPERATOR 4
Well, how are you feeling this
evening?
BONNIE
Not so good. I’ve had to pay the
hospital bill.....
CRISIS LINE OPERATOR 4
Hospital bill?
BONNIE
After my husband died all these
bills started arriving..... The
electric, the insurance, the car,
the hospital, everything. He always
paid them. I don’t even know where
the insurance coupons are.... They
are a awful reminder that he is
gone. I guess Im feeling like I
don’t want to be here anymore.
CRISIS LINE OPERATOR 4
That must be painful. The bills are
overwhelming in themselves, but
worst of all they keep reminding
you of his death.
BONNIE
His death was a shock, he had a
heart attack and just fell down
dead, he fell so hard. The sound,
I’ll never forget that sound.
The conversation continues unheard under the voice over.

CRISIS LINE OPERATOR 4
Do you have any tea you might make?
Maybe listen to the radio for a
minute or two? Or watch a movie?
Maybe plan your trip to the support
group on Saturday?
BONNIE
Yes, I could make some tea and I am
planning on going Saturday.
CRISIS LINE OPERATOR 4
I’m glad that you are going to go
to the support group. Please do
call back when you find you’re
having some trouble coping. This is
hard to go through alone. We’re
here whenever you need to talk to
someone.
