What's Dixie Swim Club All About?

It is about 5 women who were members of a college swim team and have remained friends over the years. We join them in their mid-40’s, at their annual vacation at a beach cottage. We see them at the cottage as years pass and get to experience the trials and tribulations, the relationships and the dynamics of 5 very different women staying in one house.

 Who is Director Tia Wooley Looking to Cast?

• Sheree – she was the swim team captain, married her college sweetheart, she is practical, supportive, energetic, hyper-organized and a total health nut
• Dinah – she is a single, wise-cracking cynic, she enjoys the good life and is a true go-getter, she excels at everything except romance
• Lexie – a perfect southern belle, she is vain, youth obsessed, flirtatious ‘man-manager’ and wraps men around her little finger with a look
• Jerilyn – a ditzy ray of sunshine, she is an innocent, naïve optimist who walks to the beat of her own drummer
• Vernadette – a hard luck case, nothing ever goes right for her, she is poor financially, very self-deprecating and has a gallows sense of humor

 What Kind of Women Is She Casting?

Tia says she's looking for women who appear between the age of 35 – 50 with a different look for each character -- from petite to heavy, Short to tall. The first rehearsal will be about working on relationships which will be built on those throughout the rehearsal process. Tentative rehearsal schedule will be mostly Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings. Performances of Dixie Swim Club will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Scripts are available for reading at the Spokane Civic Theatre box office and auditions will include cold readings from the script.

STORY DESCRIPTION: Jeff, a hard-core, 20-something-year-old gamer, is in

danger of losing his life to his games as the undefeated champion of Super Ultra

Mega Fighter Turbo. Jeff plays against and ultimately crushes Tommy, a 7-year old

boy, who is often asked to look after his baby sister. The baby decides to play

with the controller. With every pound of her fist, she brings Jeff closer to defeat.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

Jeff [Lead] 20 to 35-year-old: Jeff is a hard-core, 20-something-year-old gamer.

We imagine this character speaking with a soft, subtle “s” like Food Network

Chef, Bobby Flay or even a breathy Napoleon Dynamite. Jeff is very into his

games, so he has a defined vocal infliction, which is somewhat intense.

We're doing a lifestyle b-roll shoot for a medical company. Here are the details: for tomorrow we need a family of 4 (mom, dad, brother, sister), a middle aged man (most likely a father, physically fit), a middle age woman (mother, physically fit), 3 pre-teen boys, a young child. Each would be be needed for approximately 3 hours and will be paid the flat rate of $75. The location is a home in Alpine, UT.

This piece will be a :90 second trailer-format narrative of a book trailer.  We are doing this shoot pro-bono for a local book publisher as an example of the quality we can provide in a book trailer.  Assuming this all goes well, it will secure us several payed book trailer projects in the near future that they are getting ready to release.  

Shooting dates are March 1st and 2nd.  Gary, Connor, and Jenny would be for Sat the 2nd.  

($200/day per person was what we have in the the budget) 
Here's the breakdown on each character. Jenny, Gary, and Connor are all non-speaking parts. 

Christian Morris—Main character, male, Caucasian, tall. 17 year-old kid who believes he’s all alone in this world. His mother died when he was young and although he lives with his father, his father acts like Christian doesn’t exist. He feels abandoned. He attempted suicide, and when that didn’t work, he decided to run away. Lives in Portland, Oregon. Deep down he’s a nice guy, but he has a big chip on his shoulder and he’s afraid to let anyone get too close for fear they will abandon him too. He can’t accept that his father is reaching out to him—he can’t imagine his father would ever change. He is defensive a lot, especially regarding his father; and a little snarky at times. 

Scarlett Becket—Female, 16 years old, native of London, Caucasian. Small and petite. She has been kidnapped and carted to Portland where she escaped. She is blind, but she manages to hide it very well. She has dreams in which she sees the death of someone, and then the dreams come true. She is scared to death, but tries hard not to show it by using sarcasm and lots of British slang. She dresses punk and has a streak of pink hair; she is spunky; and she tries to hide her vulnerability by trying to sound confident and like she doesn’t care. She would have a London accent, but not too heavy on the cockney. She is Christian’s love interest.

Gary Wyden—Mid to late 30’s, tall, is Anne Wyden’s brother, and is a mortician. Caucasian. He has a calm, deep, throaty sounding voice. He does the grunt work for Anne Wyden. He’s just a regular guy and not accostomed to being nefarious, so he hired Connor as his lackey to help with the dirty work, but he is getting a little fed up with Connor and his excessive ways.

Connor/Scarface—Early 30’s, smaller and weasley. He is from the east coast. Caucasian. Anne and Gary hired him to do their dirty work, not realizing that his trigger-happy ways would land the police on their tails. Anne and Gary felt they needed someone with experience in criminal behavior to pull off their underhanded dealings, but Connor is over zealous and the Wyden’s quickly regret their decision. He would sound thuggish, aggressive, and like he’s trying too hard to be a tough-guy. Has a scar on his face.

Jenny—19 year old receptionist at Dr. Wyden’s clinic. Caucasian. She is fresh out of high school and studying to be an ophthalmologist. She is a bit ditzy at times—doesn’t always use words correctly. But she is nice, and like most girls, just wants a guy to like her. Portland native. She is lured in by Christian when he flirts with her so that he can use her to get information about Anne Wyden.

Seeking cast/crew members for an action western shoot in S. Utah mid March.

Hello everyone. I'm looking for a small cast and crew to embark on a Wild West adventure with my group next month. We'll be participating in the quickly growing "Little Hollywood Shootout" in Kanab. We placed last year with our film "Bloodshot Rots" and had a TON of fun in the process. Were looking for a few more to join our crew. We'd like to secure a few more positions.

How this works is we'll be given a subject on March 13th. We'll start scripting / organizing for a few days before embarking out to the set. We'll then shoot for 3 or 4 days. We cant reveal exactly what were preparing to shoot but we can say were trying to intertwine the fantasy and western genres.

LOUIS ‐ 18 year old clerk at the hardware store; a good kid, even known by his friends
as a “goodie‐two shoes,” he has a buoyant energy, likes people, but isn’t good at
handling things when they go wrong. Sweet, sincere, wants to do the right thing,
working hard to save to pay for college.
EDITH ‐ 30s, unmarried and not likely to be wed anytime soon; likes gossip, has a
tendency to dramatize things and look for the melodramatic in life.
MR. DONNER ‐ 50s, owner of the hardware store. Solid, hard‐working, working class.
A big heart, but also quick to make decisions ‐‐ which sometimes backfire on him.
Loves his store, loves his wife, loves the kids who work there ‐‐ and is disappointed in
them when they let him down
MRS. DONNER ‐ 50s, matronly, helps her husband run the hardware store, more self consciously
sophisticated than her husband, and with an addictive personality she
prefers to keep hidden.
WENDY ‐ 19, bubbly, good‐natured, not afraid to speak her mind; not terrific in school,
can get emotional quickly.

We are reminding talent in ST GEORGE that the PRE-SCREENING for BACKGROUND ACTORS for the New Testament Scripture Library – Phase III project is going to happen on Saturday, March 2, 2012.

o facilitate an authentic look, we seek background actors (extras) who resemble the inhabitants of old Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. Specifically sought are those who appear to have a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean heritage. MEN must commit to growing a full beard and no haircuts from NOW through the duration of the shoot. WOMEN must not wear any permanent makeup, artificial nails or hairpieces. No CHILDREN under the age of 15 years are needed.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS we seek
- individuals with darker hair and eye color (brown-to-black);
- olive or brown skin tone;
- slender-to-medium build; thin-to-muscular frame;
- other common Semitic characteristics.

There is also a need for a few Africans or those of African descent.
