UPCOMING AUDITIONS - THE CRUCIBLE BY ARTHUR MILLER
WHAT:
Pioneer Theatre Company Auditions
Each audition slot is five minutes. All auditioners will be asked to read from the script; sides will be available at audition sign-up.
WHEN:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM is reserved for AEA only; 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM is open to both AEA and non-AEA auditioners.
Callbacks will be on Saturday, November 1, by invitation only.
WHO:
Auditioners must be 18 years or older. A headshot and résumé are recommended.
HOW:
All auditioners must come in to sign up on the callboard in Room 325 at the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. The sign-up sheet will be posted on Friday, October 24, 2014.
MORE INFO:
Rehearsal dates for the production are Monday, January 19, 2015 - Thursday, February 12, 2015. Performance dates are Friday, February 13 - Saturday, February 28, 2015. Former PTC Artistic Director Charles Morey will direct the production.
ROLES:

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Reverend Parris: 40's. Dried up and bitter. Always the victim, almost to the point of paranoia. Ultimately a stupid, fearful, cowardly and spiteful man.
John Proctor: Mid 30's. New England farmer. Powerful man both physically and emotionally. Even tempered and not easily lead. Very straightforward and fundamentally honest man. Must have real strength and presence. He carries the play.
Tituba: 30's / 40's. Black female servant from Barbados. Caribbean dialect. Has great warmth and strength. But quite naive and easily swayed - ultimately pushed over the edge into madness.
Abigail Williams: 17. Very attractive and sexy. "A strikingly beautiful girl" in Miller's words with "an endless capacity for deception." Capable of great emotional fireworks. Will do anything to serve her own ends. Probably a sociopath.
Susanna Walcott: 16-17 "a nervous hurried girl."
Ann Putnam: 40's. "A twisted soul of 45, a death ridden woman, haunted by dreams." Small minded and hard.
Thomas Putnam: 40's- 50's. "A well to do, hard-handed land owner." Venal, small minded, bitter and vindictive.
Mercy Lewis: 16-17. The Putnam's servant. "A sly, merciless girl." Sarcastic. A 17th century "Mean Girl".
Mary Warren: 17. Somewhat plain. A subservient, naive, lonely girl. Pliant and scared.
Betty Parris: 17. Rev. Parris' daughter. In the throes of a borderline psychotic adolescent hysteria. A deeply troubled girl.
Giles Corey: Late 70's, early 80's. Farmer. A small man physically, wiry, still powerful, canny, inquisitive, argumentative, strong willed.
Reverend Hale: Late 30's - early 40's. Intelligent, committed. Intellectual. Takes great pride in his knowledge and scholarship of the occult world. Initially convinced of the righteousness of his position, but not closed-minded. Ultimately a good man who follows his conscience and is appalled and broken by the events of the play.
Elizabeth Proctor: Early to mid-thirties. Solid farm wife. Attractive, but not beautiful. Reserved and somewhat cold - but with reserves of warmth, great strength and real emotional depth.
Francis Nurse: 70's-80's. Honest, straightforward, good man. Appalled, bewildered and frightened by events.
Ezekial Cheever: 40's. Clerk of the Court. Not a bad man. Simply trying to do his duty honestly as instructed but not without empathy. Not particularly bright.
John Willard: The Marshall. Good natured. Follows orders. Perhaps a weakness for drink, amplified by the darkness of the times.
Governor Danforth: 50's/60's. Intelligent. Imposing presence. Strong. Arthur Miller: "A grave man of some humor and sophistication that does not, however, interfere with an unflagging loyalty to his position and cause.
Judge Hathorne: 50's/60's. A bitter, remorseless Salem Judge. Utterly convinced of his own righteousness.

We have a gigs available at Glenwood Springs, Montrose, Grand Junction,
and Durango Natural Grocers in November (the exact date is flexible, but
MUST be on a weekend day) for a four hour demo shift. The product to be
presented is an all natural sweetener. You will be serving shoppers a
small sample in the store, as well as giving shoppers coupons and recipe
cards to take home.
If this gig goes well, there are possible gigs in the future, as we get requests for events in Natural Grocers sporadically.

Umbra Films is seeking an actress between 20-30 years of age to play
roles in various short scenarios. We’ve shot some short films and other
work in the past and are now beginning to ramp up our production and
skill sets. We would be shooting two to three times a month in
different short scenario setups that help us work on test shots for
future films, i.e. practicing vertigo shots, running cranes, steady
cams, different lighting setups, etc. Shoots will be posted to youtube and vimeo with walkthroughs of how we got the shots, what equipment was used, etc.
All shoots will have a loose story and will require various levels of
acting. This is a great opportunity for someone to start building a
reel and honing their craft. Work will be trade for copy on all shoots,
and we will make sure our cast and crew are fed well and happy.

reel, and get first shot at casting for our shorts next year(which WILL

Auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”
We
are giddy about our holiday production, and incredibly fun and visual
production of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry. We
are looking for five actors to play several dozen roles in this
wonderful production! Directed by Morgan and Lloyd Parry. Produced by
Rick Rea.
Auditions: Saturday, October 25th - 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Appointment highly encouraged (see below)
Location: The Ziegfeld Theater Loft - 3934 S. Washington Blvd., Ogden UT.
Performance Dates: November 28th - December 21st. Fridays, Saturdays,
Mondays (besides Monday Dec. 1). Addtl. weekday performances may be
added, with ample notification to actors.
No memorization/monologue necessary. You will read sides of the various characters in the radio play.

audition time and a pdf of audition sides to prepare for the audition.
Rehearsals will be held at The Ziegfeld Theater. Due to the fact that
the majority of the show is NOT memorized (true to the fashion of old
radio shows, actors held their scripts), the rehearsal process will be
much shorter than a typical production. Tentatively they will be held
2-4 days a week beginning at the end of October.

CASTING CALL - Looking for three male actors to play a scene from the
2012 dramatic film "The Grey" starring Liam Neeson. Minimum age
requirement is 20 years old. Looking to do an all-day shoot one of the
last two weeks of October. If you have not seen this film it's a
dramatic whirlwind and a great opportunity for actors to stretch their
wings and capture something powerful for their portfolios. It involves a
group of oil-rigging men stranded in the bitterly cold, Alaskan wilderness after their plane crashes. The roles are as follows:
Ottway - our protagonist, and leader of the group. Hired by the
oil-rigging company to protect the other men from wolves. Lost his wife
an undetermined amount of time previously. Unresolved father issues.
Diaz - Antagonist, turned friend after he avoids death thanks to Ottway. Prison background. Pessimistic outlook on life.
Talget - Faith-based, moral center. Has an ex-wife who he does not get along with and a young daughter whom he misses deeply.
