Casting Notice for Web Series “Proper Manors”

Seeking actors for a new Web Soap created by Pietro D’Alessio. The story centers on a group of teenagers and their families. Many lead parts are still available as well as supporting roles. This is a character breakdown for many roles for the soap opera. Some will work in later episodes. We will begin casting focusing initially on the lead and supporting roles and anticipate bi-weekly casting sessions until complete.

Important Information:

“Proper Manors” is intended to be a 22-min. Weekly web soap opera.

SAG New Media paperwork is currently pending on the project and we will be fully signatory by the time we begin production.  (100/day) – Possibly deferred – but you will know this prior to shooting and it will be in a deal memo/contract.

Many of the lead characters will be “on contract” meaning that, if cast, we must know what is going on with you.  The project (in essence a TV series for the web) will be shooting weekly – mostly on weekends  but there may be exceptions.

Every character has been developed to be a part of the tapestry in the town of Proper, USA.  Even the smallest roles can develop into front burner story lines and lead characters can be written out any time.  The show is intended for a mature audience and would probably be categorized as TV-M (Mature Audiences).

There is NO nudity nor will we be using the F-bomb, however there will be other profanity occasionally and adult situations.  The characters on the soap, much like the real world, are diverse – all ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations and political persuasions.  We will not modify characters based on actor's moral or religious input as the characters themselves “live” in a different world and everything, loosely based on reality, is fictional.  Of course, the characters will be evolving/developing and changing based on what they experience as a character living in Proper.  Any familiarity of any person living or dead is purely coincidental.

MELODY WALDEN (Supporting)37, Tall, thin, blonde, perfect mom and socialite, spends her days shopping, doing yoga, hiking, buying/selling stocks, dabbling in the stock market and mentoring/nurturing her kids and being a surrogate mom to their friends. IDAHO / UTAH- AUDITIONS

January 10, 2012

PARK CITY — The producers of "Televisionaries," an independent feature film based on the true story of the battle of the birth of television, are holding a casting call for an actor age 11-14 from Utah or Idaho to play the teenage Philo T. Farnsworth .

Ten finalists will be invited to audition and screen test during the opening weekend of the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Landmark Inn.

"Televisionaries" is based on the life of Farnsworth, who was born and buried in Utah and grew up on his family's potato farm in Rigby, Idaho. Farnsworth was inspired one day in 1921 by the parallel lines in the field he was plowing. The 14-year-old farm boy imagined that lines of electrons would scan and paint moving images on screens in every home.

Writer Evan I. Schwartz came across Farnsworth's story while researching technology and tracked Farnsworth's widow down in 1999. Schwartz's book, "The Last Lone Inventor: A Tale of Genius, Deceit and the Birth of Television," came shortly thereafter.

"A lot of people have said to me over the years that it sort of reads like a movie," he said.

Schwartz met producer Jonathan Sheldon at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. Sheldon said he was drawn especially to Farnsworth's character, which he described as genuine and hardworking.

"That kind of character just spoke to me," he said. He described Farnsworth's life story as truly American — an uplifting classic that has been largely untold.

And it's vital, both Schwartz and Sheldon believe, that the actor playing the young Farnsworth be a resident of Utah or Idaho.

Schwartz pointed out that Farnsworth was not only born in Utah, but also returned to his roots after the whirlwind experience produced by his invention. Farnsworth lived his remaining days in Provo.

Sheldon said having a Utah or Idaho native play the role would provide "an authenticity that you can't manufacture."

They need someone who understands the culture and history of these places, Schwartz explained. Farnsworth, whom Schwartz called an obsessive genius, had his "eureka" moment in a potato field, after all.

"Television, in many ways, came out of the soil," Schwartz said.

Independent film veteran Michael Polish will direct "Televisionaries." Polish's twin brother, Mark, came on board to co-write the screenplay with Schwartz.

Already well on its way, the film has received a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation as a 2011 winner of the Tribeca Film Institute's Sloan Filmmaker Award, which encourages science in cinema. Film Independent, a Los Angeles-based organization that oversees the Spirit Awards, also selected the screenplay for the 2011 Producers Lab.

To respond to the casting call for the role of the young Philo Farnsworth or to learn more about "Televisionaries," visit televisionaries.com. The 10 finalists will be notified by Jan. 15.

UTAH- SHOOT KIDS-ASAP!!!

January 9, 2012
The idea is for a spec ad for Altoids. It will be shown on group members (5) portfolio sites and shown to recruiters but won't run on TV.

The idea is that a young teenage girl (12 or 13 yr old looking girl) is seen walking out of school with a boy towards a car. She gets in the car and says thanks for picking me up Aunt Tina. The Aunt starts to ask questions about the boy and proceeds to tell her niece about how when she was her age all the boys were into her and gives her a goofy birds and the bees talk. The niece feels completely awkward and weirded out. It ends with a slogan "Put a good taste in your mouth."

We understand that this may be a delicate topic for young girls to act with so we have a storyboard that we can use so that actress (the niece) isn't in the car at all during these lines and then we would bring her into the car just to shoot her reactions.

If we could get some head shots of the actresses in your agency that would be great. We don't mind what age they really are as long as they look about 12 or 13 (kind of like a teeny bopper tween looking girl).quick shoot (about 4 hours) and we would like to film as soon as this weekend to early next week. We will be filming outside of a school in Provo.

There will be a rate.
