MTV hosts 'Real World' casting call

MTV's The Real World is hosting an open casting call for Season 27 in Fort Collins on Wednesday, producers said in a news release Friday.

Participants must be older than 20 and appear to be younger than 24. They must bring a photo that will not be returned. The casting call is for MTV's longest-running show, which unites diverse individuals into a group of roommates, all the while being filmed.

The casting call by Bunim-Murray Productions is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Fort Collins Brewery/ Gravity Ten Twenty, 1020 E. Lincoln Ave., Fort Collins.

This season, casting directors will be on the lookout for applicants who have challenges living an everyday life that most take for granted, struggling with weight issues, affected by a natural disaster, products of home or alternative schooling, followers of unrecognized or nonmainstream belief systems, elite athletes, recent graduates affected by the economic downturn, those involved with goth, emo or punk subculture, members of a pro-abstinence organization and individuals who want to bring the spotlight of "The Real World" to a cause, condition or social issue in which they care deeply.

There are numerous sport related stations (soccer, football, racing, etc) that each brand ambassadors will be overseeing. There is also a gaming area (plinko and spin to win prize wheels) and a number of video gaming kiosks within the footprint.  A number of Brand Ambassadors will also be trained and given iTouch’s during the event, that will be used as PDA devices to gather survey information from consumers within our footprint area. These surveys are in Spanish, so it is critical that all staff are able to speak, read and write in Spanish. Brand Ambassadors will be responsible for approaching and engaging consumers in a friendly and professional manner while representing and promoting the Comcast brand. Staff may be asking to do some light setup and/or cleaning of equipment prior to event start.

Plot Summary: Members of a highly dysfunctional family try to cope with one another.  The father, Ben, is an average American dad and sarcastic dentist.  His wife, Susan, is a tour guide who is very controlling, and can usually manipulate Ben to do whatever she wants.  They have three children, Michael who's twelve, Jenny who's fifteen, and Nick who is twenty-two.

Characters : 
 
Ben (Lead):  40-50 year old male.  Father.  Local dentist.  Highly sarcastic, a bit depressed, very sardonic, loves his children but has trouble showing it, can be manipulated by Susan.  He likes watching sports, and not much else besides that.  Complains about his work often.  

Susan (Lead): 40-47 year old female.  Mother.  Tour Guide.  Loves her family, but also loves to control it, workaholic, perfectionist, can manipulate Ben.

Nick (Lead): 21-25 year old male.  Son.  Unemployed and lives at home.  Sarcastic and witty.  Breaks everything he touches.  Very lazy.

Jenny (Co-Star):  15-17 year old female.  Daughter.  High School Student.  Boy loving, fashion conscious, shop-a-holic.

Michael (Co-Star):  9-12 year old male.  Son.  Middle School.  Intelligent.  Nerdy.  Voice of reason in the family.  Clean cut.

Short film (Utah) Auditions!!

Silver Screen Cinema Productions is having a casting call for a short film entitled: Forgiven.
 
Synopsis:  A slave hand named Thomas is accused of murdering Jacob, the son of Thomas’ owner, James.  James gathers a mob to find him.  When people are out for revenge, can forgiveness be found?
 
We are casting for one scene to be filmed on Saturday, October 22nd.  This scene will be used to post on Kickstarter to raise money to shoot the rest of the film.

Audition for Miss Evers' Boys by David Feldshuh
Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1992

Audition Date: November 5, 2011

You will need to call the box office (801-957-3322) to sign up for an audition time. The sign up sheet will be available November 1, 2011. Time slots start at 10am and usually run in 3-5 minute increments until 2pm.

A copy of the play will be available for a 2 hour check out starting October 24th from the Box Office. Box Office hours are Noon-5pm, Monday through Friday.

Suggested by the book, "Bad Blood," Miss Evers' Boys is a fictional account of the "Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in Negro Males."

In an effort to get medical help for the sharecroppers in rural Alabama, Nurse Evers convinces the local men to join a government study to treat venereal disease. Four of the men, who have formed an amateur song-and-dance group, compete in "gillie" competitions. They are the focus of Nurse Evers care. When money for treatment runs out, Nurse Evers is faced with a difficult decision: to tell the men they are no longer being treated and are now part of a research study, or follow the lead of the doctors she respects and the tenets of the nursing profession.

The Study lasted from 1932 until it was exposed in 1972.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the rehearsal process?
Typically, rehearsals last about six weeks prior to opening. Due to the complexity of everyone's schedules, rehearsals are reserved for evenings Monday through Fridays and Saturdays, during the day. Generally rehearsals are scheduled from 6:00-10:00PM weeknights, and 9:00AM-4:00PM on Saturdays.

Do I get paid?
Yes, we do offer stipends to all adult actors employed during a production. Children, under legal working age, do not receive monetary compensation, but usually receive discounted tickets for family members.

Do you hire Equity?
No, not generally. We are not an Equity Theatre, although, occasionally there is an equity contract offered under special circumstances. However, Equity actors are always encouraged to audition, as you never know what will be offered.
