CASTING CALL - True Love Waits (dark comedy) - short film, SLC

June 27, 2011

A group of filmmakers and I are looking for young actors and actresses (Early to Mid-20's) for a dark comedy about unrequited love. Right not we have set a date to shoot on the weekend of July 16-18 (if everything goes according to plan) and we will be filming in Salt Lake City.  Our intentions are to submit this film to a contest on August 1st and possibly festivals.

None of the roles are speaking roles except for the main character Laszlo who has already been cast and it is done entirely with voiceover narration.

I am also casting this in a little bit of a hurry, meaning there are no auditions. Auditions would also seem a little meaningless since none of the roles are speaking roles. So if you would like a part in this film, please e-mail your headshot to bmorrisey@hotmail.com and we will pick you based on that and if we can picture you as the character and also if you're available to shoot that weekend.

If you have a youtube or vimeo video of your acting, be it a reel, a short film you appeared in, or monologue you filmed yourself, it could help your chances of getting a part.

Also, we are film students so therefore this is a non-paying gig.

Here are the roles we need:

Chloe (supporting) - (early to mid 20's) Must be very photogenic, hoping to find someone who stands out visually amongst the other girls in the film. Must be able to play fear very well (think horror movie). This role is more prominent than the others.

Muscle Man (supporting) - (early to mid twenties) This character plays the role of Chloe's boyfriend/protector. We need someone who is physically imposing (as well as muscular) and can look threatening as well as act a bit like a douce.

6 Female Extas - (early to mid twenties) The main character Laszlo is constantly being rejected by beautiful women who appear desirable to him at the beginning of the film. We need six actresses who can spare a little of their time to appear briefly in the film for these roles. We do want girls that are attractive but we are also looking for some diversity as far as looks go, so don't be shy about applying.

1 Male Extra -  (early to mid twenties) We need a handsome looking guy who can also spare a little bit of their time to appear briefly in the film as the boyfriend to one of the female extras.

1 Older Adult Male Extra - We also need an adult male actor to spare a little bit of their time to appear briefly in the film as a homeless man who laughs at the main character's grief. Age range maybe 30's to 40's. Comedic character type.

Also, if you have any religious beliefs or anything else that may prevent you from being in a film with violence, cursing, and other suggestive ideas, then you might want to skip over this. On the other hand, if you're all for that kind of stuff, then this film is right up your alley.

LET CRAZE KNOW IF THEY SELECT YOUR FOR THIS FILM PROJECT.

Thanks,

Craze Agency

DAY ZERO SYNOPSIS: Set around the mid 22nd century, the earth has been mostly destroyed as a result of a World War. Radiation and Fallout from a global attack has affected most of the survivors (roughly ten percent of the world’s previous population) and drove them completely crazy, also affecting their physical appearances and abilities. The infected hunted down and killed almost all of those unaffected, but eight random strangers have managed to survive.

These are lead roles and require actors for all 10 episodes.
The Rosie character requires that you know sign language. If not, we will try to hire someone who can help but prefer if you know it and can briefly show a few basics to another actor.

Blake Edwards: (mid 20s) Blake is a struggling drug addict, and as a result of withdrawals and general issues with depression, is constantly attempting suicide. He is generally moody and sarcastic, in constant battle with Rachael, and bitter at their entire situation in general. He is still a likable character though, as he does contribute to the group in ways the others couldn’t.

Rosie Parker: (early to mid 20s) Rosie is one of the more delicate members of the group. She is shy, gentle, innocent, and will only handle a gun in the most desperate of situations, even then firing with her eyes closed. She is overly protective of her younger brother Landon due to his asthma and deafness, almost to the point of coddling him, which causes him to push further away.

Kat Finch: (mid 20s) Kat acts as something of a mother for the rest of the group, being fiercely protective by nature.  She is generally optimistic and outgoing.  Kat was raised in the Deep South and has only had up to a fourth grade education, but is bright in general.  She, along with her “almost-husband” Russell, takes on the role of “breadwinner” as she learned to hunt at age seven.

DO NOT CALL THE LIBRARY. If you have questions about the casting session, call Chaunelle McLean at 801-710-0509

PLEASE BRING YOUR HEADSHOT AND RESUME STAPLED TO THE BACK.

Thank you!
