CASTING CALL: Promotional Video for new book by Salt Lake Author

Be part of a short video being used to promote Kristen Chandler's latest novel, Girls Don't Fly (Viking, 2011). This newest book by Salt Lake based author of Wolves, Boys and Other Things That Might Kill Me is the story of a young woman named Myra.

"Myra is used to keeping her feet firmly on the ground. She's got four younger brothers, overworked parents, and a pregnant sister, and if Myra wasn't there to take care of everyone, they'd probably fall apart. But when her boyfriend unceremoniously dumps her, Myra feels like she's lost her footing. Suddenly she's doing things she never would've a few months earlier: jumping around in a chicken suit for a part-time job, competing against her ex-boyfriend for a scholarship to study birds in the Galápagos, and falling for a guy who's encouraging her to leap from her old life . . . and fly."

This video will be used to promote the book and they are in need of 4 talented actors to help out. Please read the character descriptions below. The roles needed are:

MYRA: Caucasian Female; 18; thin, average build; dirty-blond; Myra is an unassuming girl with a lot of empathy and drive

ERIK: Caucasian Male; 18; cross-country runner, slim athletic build; short, dark hair; Erik is handsome and charming, but selfish and manipulative

PETE: Caucasian Male; 24; wiry, outdoorsy athletic build; redhead; Erik is a grad student studying biology, he is quirky, yet caring, and comfortable with who he is

FEMALE NARRATOR: (voice over) mature, Female voice able to perform narration for video in a professional, yet fun and engaging manner

The three character roles will not have any speaking lines, though MYRA will do some narration with an excerpt from the book.

Filming will be all day on Saturday, May 14th primarily at the Great Salt Lake Marina and other locations around Salt Lake.

This is a very low-budget production and they are unable to compensate actors, and instead offer the old stand-bys of credit, a copy of the finished video, and the experience of being part of this exciting new project.

20 People Needed to Play Newborn Vampires Tomorrow - The Spoof Saga: Eclipse, UTAH

This Saturday, May 7th, need about 20 people to play the newborn vampire army in The Spoof Saga: Eclipse. Sorry it's so last minute. Here are the details:

Time: 10am to, at latest, 5pm. Lunch will be provided. No pay.

Place: Spanish Fork Canyon View Park (where they hold the Festival of Lights every year). About 15 minutes from Provo and an hour from Salt Lake City. Will give directions to those who contact this post.
Who: Looking for people who could pass off as being in their teens (13-19) or early twenties (20-23).

What to Wear: Wear dark colored clothes. No white, no bright colors, and no logos UNLESS it's a Twilight fan shirt or (and we'd love this even more) an Eclipse newborn vampire shirt. If you have some pale white make-up, come with it on. Some vampire make-up will be provided for those who don't already have some.

Murder: A Comedy Auditions

           

Boise film company, Idge Films, is starting to cast for the production of Murder: A Comedy which will begin filming on June 19th, 2011.

 

A creative union of action, drama and comedy, this is more than just a story about a murder. It is a story about purpose.

           

There comes a point at which people stop looking forward, to when their life really starts, and realize that it already arrived, and they missed it. That's what happens to our heroes in Murder; two friends, both struggling with the pressures of mediocrity. While one loses his grip on the only relationship he's ever known, the other is buried deeper in a career he hates. 

           

Troubled with the way their lives have turned out, and the lack of success they have achieved, they set out to do something truly great; something that will prove to themselves that they are not the hapless puppets of the world.

           

A hypothetical question arises: Could we get away with murder? They both agree that, obviously, the answer is yes, but they would never know for sure. Or could we?

 

No pay but you can receive copy of the final movie and credit. This movie will also be submitted to various film festivals so there will be opportunities for good exposure.

Casting outdoor athletes for an upcoming rock climbing/canyoneering shoot at the end of May.

This is a technical rock climbing and canyoneering shoot. It will be dangerous for beginners. The location is a remote canyon on the Oregon/Idaho border and we will be dry camping the entire time.
 
MUST HAVE significant outdoor experience in either rock climbing (not sport climbing) or canyoneering, are available Tuesday, May 24- Friday, May 27, and can travel to the location, shoot for two days and return home.  
 
Pay will be a flat $750 for the entire shoot.

Imagine: A physiological drama, is about John Morris, a paramedic, who lives under a cloud of guilt after being unable to save his daughter, Brooke, From drowning at a public pool.  The guilt from her death has left him numb and has shattered his relationship with his wife, Kate. Through Charged water, water that has been influenced by specific thoughts or energy, an experiment held by Dr. Arlen, John begins to connect with his daughter in an unknown world. 

Through the reoccurring events in the unknown world he becomes convinced that he has the ability to change the events that have happened in the past. confident that he can prevent her from drowning he tries to convince Kate that he can make everything the way it used to be.

PENNY DREADFUL is a wonderful short being made by an NYU student in Utah this Fall. It will be made into a feature within the next two years. The writing is fabulous, and it is very funny, but a bit rough.

Very funny with very dry delivery. MUST BE great actress. the lead girl – 9 years old – shoots someone in the head at point blank range. You will not see blood and gore – it is done in the context of the comedy.

 

DENNIS:  (LEAD): 30’s. A total idiot, but awkward.

 

HOLLY: (LEAD): 30’s. Fading beauty queen. Not sophisticated.

 

RANDY: 30’s. Redneck, would-be kidnapper.

 

HYRUM: 60’s. Lean, tough. Polygamist who owns a strip club. No emotion. Cold.

Need 2 Men to play Emmett and Carlisle Cullen in EM Film Production's "The Spoof Saga: Eclipse," a parody based on film adaption of Stephenie Meyer's book, Eclipse. Here are the character details:

EMMETT CULLEN: 16-20 years old. Is tall, and well muscled (though that is not an absolute requirement). Emmett is Edward's vampire "brother." Must be available to possibly film during the afternoon this Saturday, May 7th, and all day on May 21st. Plus another night of filming still undecided. (Dates subject to change)

CARLISLE CULLEN: 18-25 years old. Blond, pale skinned. Carlisle is the Edward's vampire "father"--the leader of the Cullen coven. Must be available to possibly film May 21st all day and then one night still undecided (Dates subject to change).

While the spoof saga films are pretty small, they're popularity with audiences makes up for it. Twilight the Spoof, The Spoof Saga: New Moon, and a pre-production sneak peek of The Spoof Saga: Eclipse was shown on the big screen at a huge Twilight convention in Salt Lake City. The new moon spoof aired on TV on a Friday night on Reelz Channel, a big hollywood news channel, and has gained the interest of professional directors and producers from other big movies and tv shows.
