Lionsgate will consider unknown talent for 'The Hunger Games' as auditions begin

March 12, 2011
March 11, 2011

Hailee Steinfeld and Liam Hemsworth are favorites to play Katniss and Peeta
AB Media

Auditions are about to get underway for the first installment in the "The Hunger Games" trilogy based on the novels by Suzanne Collins. Suzanne Collins has extensive experience writing for children’s television. She has worked on the staffs of several Nickelodeon shows, including the Emmy-nominated hit "Clarissa Explains it All" and "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo".

Four time Academy Award nominee Gary Ross is set to direct from a screenplay by Billy Ray, who has written screenplays for such films as "Hart's War," "Flightplan," and "State of Play".

Three time Casting Society of America Artios Award winning casting director Debra Zane has been brought in to cast "The Hunger Games". Zane recently cast "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" Part 1 & 2.

The huge sales of the trilogy novels make the film adaptations a potential game-changer for Lionsgate, the way that Twilight was for Summit Entertainment. Nina Jacobson and her production company Color Force will produce. Nina Jacobson has built an impressive career as a senior film executive and producer, including stints at DreamWorks, Universal and Disney, where she served as President of Walt Disney Motion Picture Group.

Shooting will take place in Georgia from May 23, 2011 - September 3, 2011, with the film set for a theatrical release in March 23, 2012.

Main characters to be cast in "The Hunger Games":

[KATNISS EVERDEEN] Female, 16 years of age. She is the the main protagonist and the narrator of the story. Long black hair which she wears in a braid, olive skin, and gray eyes. Small in stature and light for her age. Independent survivalist, lethal, but good at thinking outside the box. Good singing ability.

[PEETA MELLARK] Male, 16 years of age. He is medium height with a stocky build, ashy blond hair with blue eyes. Rarely moody or upset and generally takes things lightly. Very well on his feet and has a very likable personality and a flair for showmanship. He also is wise beyond his years. His larger build and strength also gives him an advantage during hand-to-hand combat and wrestling.

[GALE HAWTHORNE] Male, 18 years of age. Katniss's best friend and hunting partner. He has black hair, olive skin, and gray eyes. Gale is in love with and fiercely devoted to Katniss.

[HAYMITCH ABERNATHY] Male, middle aged. A potbellied drunk. Sarcastic and harsh, but he is independently wealthy and can be highly canny and clever. He help Katniss and Peeta whom he now considers his family.

[PRIMROSE EVERDEEN] Female, 12 years of age. Light hair and blue eyes. Katniss' younger sister. Primrose's face is as fresh as a raindrop, as lovely as the primrose for which she was named. Thoughtful, sweet, and somewhat delicate in spite of all she has been put through at a young age.

[PRESIDENT CORIOLANUS SNOW] Male, older. He is the main antagonist of the series. Described as having very puffy lips, having a smell of blood from drinking poison over the years. He also has a permanent smell of genetically altered roses which makes Katniss gag. Ruthless and willingness to kill even innocent children, but end up being a man of his word.

[FINNICK ODAIR] Male, very handsome, tall, with tan skin, bronze hair, and stunning sea-green eyes.

[CLOVE] Female, tribute from District 2. She is arrogant, strong and can use many weapons—especially knives, which she is described as being extremely skilled with. She has a special hatred of Katniss early on because of her high training score. She is in her late teens. Ethnicity unspecified.

[CATO] Male, tribute from District 2. He is very large and strong, has skill with many weapons, and takes a savage pleasure in killing. Like most Careers, Cato has complete confidence in his abilities and expects that he will be the victor. It is believed that he is not completely sane. He is in his late teens. Ethnicity unspecified.

[GLIMMER] Female, tribute from District 1. As a Career, she teams up with Cato, Clove, and the tributes from Districts 1 and 4. She is described as very beautiful, tall with long blond hair and green eyes. She is in her late teens, ethnicity unspecified.

[THRESH] Male, African American tribute from District 11, who has the same dark brown skin as Rue but is not very similar in appearance, because he is so much bigger than her. He is very strong and physically well built, possessing immense strength. He is 16 years of age.

[RUE] Female, 12 years of age. African American. Dark skin and hair with golden brown eyes. Aside from coloring, she is similar in appearance and size to Katniss' sister Prim.

Numerous additional roles will be cast for kids and teens, as well as adults.

Director Gary Ross and producer Nina Jacobson have stated that they are open to casting unknown actors in the film's lead roles. It is also very common for casting directors to seek talent over 18 years of age that can play the roles of the characters in their late teens. This is due to child labor laws restrictions on the amount of hours per day that minors can work.

PLEASE READ!

March 10, 2011
URGENT PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS EMAIL!

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUR BLOG 2-3 TIMES DAILY (http://crazeagency.synthasite.com ) OR YOU MAY MISS OUT ON PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES. TIME IS OFTEN CRUCIAL. WE OFTEN SEE TALENT SUBMIT WELL AFTER THE DEADLINE AND THE CLIENTS HAVE PICKED OTHER CANDIDATES AND YOU MAY HAVE BEEN A BETTER CHOICE BUT WERE TOO LATE.

THE REASON WE POST MANY OF THE AUDITIONS ON THIS SITE IS BECAUSE THE CLIENTS DO NOT WANT US TO SUBMIT YOU UNLESS YOU ARE 100% INTERESTED, AVAILABLE AND HAVE READ AS MANY DETAILS ABOUT THE JOB AS POSSIBLE. When we submit talent and then the client chooses the talent they want to book and then you decide you do not want the job we often lose the client. This makes us both look bad!

The reason we have increased bookings substantially over the last year is we do not spend a ton of time calling and emailing you unless you are booked! We spend the time finding the opportunities, promoting you, negotiating you deal, booking you on the specific job, then billing the client and making sure they are happy and use us again.

When we do send mass email alerts, we do not have time to segregate them based on sex and location, they just go out to everyone in that age range. If you see an email that does not fit you personally, just disregard it.

Again, it is important that you check your email and the Blog regularly. Only certain projects are emailed to you, whereas every opportunity that is currently available is posted on our Blog site. Also, some email accounts might spam or junk certain mass email alerts from Craze depending on their contents. If you are checking the blog, you are seeing everything!

Sometimes we submit your head shots and resumes if you fit a client’s needs to try to induce the clients in showing interest in you. This is usually done if we have worked a lot with the client, or are trying to get a new client. We also use this tactic when a job has more flexibility on dates, rates, locations etc. This is called a direct booking and we often do not even post these. Many times we have submitted you and will only contact you if they are showing interest.

If you submit for a project and are not picked please do not get discouraged! Your time will come when you are right for the job so be persistent.  Most people fail in this business because they are either not properly skilled or they want things to happen to quickly and get discouraged and quit before their big opportunity comes.

We know that sometimes it is hard when you are not contacted when not picked for a particular project, but we must use our time wisely. Often the client does not give us a time line or notice when they will be choosing the talent. We want you to succeed and are doing everything we can to assist.

We appreciate you and are honored to promote you.

Casting call for a short film, Males and Females 23-32, Utah

March 8, 2011
This posting is for CRAZE AGENCY TALENT ONLY. If we find that people are sharing privileged casting and booking info. with non Craze talent, they will be removed from the active database.

LET CRAZE KNOW IF THEY ARE INTERESTED IN CASTING YOU!!

Seeking 1 Male Actor and 1 Female Actress for a short film.

Actors need to be 23-32 and need to be able to handle dramatic material. Please include a head shot or any other links to material posted that you have done. Auditions will be held over the next week and will be scheduled by email.

The story is, in brief, about a couple that has unsuccessfully tried patching their relationship back together, and because so, an argument ensues.

Hoping to have two actors that would be willing to learn the lines, do a short rehearsal and blocking, and be available for 5-7 hours for one day of shooting. Hoping to shoot sometime in the next few weeks. Preferably, by at least March 26th.

This is a VERY low budgeted short film, that is not made with the intention of turning a profit. And because so, everyone involved is only working for the experience and not for profit, or any monetary compensation. However, they plan to submit this film to at least 3 film festival competitions across the US in the next year, as well as posting the short film online. An entry into a film festival with qualify the actors and filmmakers for an IMDB page, in case you do not already have one.

They plan to make compensations for babysitters, gas money, etc. They will also be providing lunch/dinner (most likely pizza unless, you absolutely hate pizza and would rather have Subways sandwiches) and beverages during the shoot.

This is one of a few short films that they have scripted and planned for the coming year - year and half. If the calibration works well, than they would certainly be looking to work again with the same actors for multiple productions.

Now, a little about the production. The producer Ryan McDonald has a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production with a Minor in Mass Communication which he earned in the fall of 2009 from the University of Central Florida. I have provided a link below for a short film he directed titled, "Honey, I'm Home." This short was an official selection of the San Antonio Film Festival in 2010, and was also selected for the March 2010 Film Slam competition in Orlando, Fl.

"Honey, I'm Home"

The director/writer for this short is Jason White . He has a Bachelor of Arts in English, and is currently pursuing his Master's. He has written several plays and short stories, and is looking to work his way into film.

Please contact Jason White via email with any questions or if interested:
