Male Actors needed to play Costume Character + Handlers needed, Provo and Logan, Utah

We are in need of a 2 Male actors between 5'6" and 5'8" with slim builds to play Megamind from the DreamWorks movie, "Megamind" for an in-store event coming up this weekend.
 
The boots on the costume are a US man's size 10.  
 
The actors will need to provide their own dance belts and cannot wear shorts or t-shirts with the costumes. We are also going to need 2 additional responsible adults to act as handlers for the actors during the appearances and to assist with dressing and undressing.  
 
Pay will be $130 each for the actors and $80 each for the handlers.  Details of the events are as follows:

Logline:

A divorced musician recovers a piece of music he never finished and finds his estranged daughter within it.

Character Breakdown:

JOHN. (30s-40s) Divorced musician. A father who is focused on music. Often ignores his daughter and is impatient with her; struggles to express love. [Already cast, for reference only]

KATIE - (16-20) John’s Daughter. A spirited girl from a broken home; tends to seek peace and avoid confrontation. Has almost given up on her dad who often ignores her and is impatient with her.

KATIE, TEENAGE - (12-14) A younger version of Katie while experiencing the divorce of her parents.

KATIE, YOUNG - (6-9) A loving but often quiet little girl with the desire to have a relationship with her dad.

STACY - (28-40) John’s ex-wife. Controlling and pretentious; never accepts personal blame; always projects.

RYAN - (25) Katie’s husband. Friendly and genuine; seeks the best interest of everyone around him.

DONNIE - (37) John’s agent and friend. Gregarious and easy-going, focused on interpersonal connections.

Danica is a young naive girl that gets thrown into the world way to quickly due to a rough childhood and adult decisions she has to make that she is to young for.

A few helpful Guidelines

The last time we conducted this type of audition, we received almost 200 applications.  Of those, only about 30 made the cut.  The children who will succeed in this effort will not only be good readers, but will also portray a sense of “story and performance” in their reading, along with clear enunciation.

Chosen participants will receive $50 compensation per recording session.  Recording sessions will take place in Salt Lake City beginning about June through the summer months.  Children will not be required to attend all recording sessions.  They will participate by invitation and based on their availability.

SIDE 1:

Many Nephites gathered at the temple in Bountiful.  They were amazed at the great changes in the land.  The people were talking about Jesus Christ and the sign of His death.  While they were talking, they heard a quiet voice from heaven that made their hearts burn.  At first, they did not understand the voice, but when it spoke the third time, they understood it.  The voice was Heavenly Father's.  It introduced Jesus Christ and told the people to listen to him.

SIDE 2:

Jesus Christ came down from heaven and stood among the people.  They were afraid to speak because they did not understand what was happening.  They thought Jesus was an angel.  He told them he was Jesus Christ, the one the prophets had said would come.  Jesus told the people to come and feel the marks in his side and in his hands and feet, where he had been nailed to the cross.  Jesus wanted the people to know that He was their God and that he had died for their sins.  One by one, the people felt the marks in Jesus' side, hands and feet; and they knew He was their Savior.

SIDE 3:

Jesus Christ told the Nephites to bring their little children to him.  The children sat on the ground near Jesus.  The Savior told the people to kneel down.  Then he knelt and prayed to Heavenly Father.  The Savior's prayer was so marvelous that it could not be written.  It filled the Nephites with joy.  After his prayer, Jesus said the Nephites would be blessed because of their faith.

BYU student capstone production.
 
Casting session this Saturday, February 19th from 12:00PM - 4:00PM.
 
It will be held in South Salt Lake City

Will be filming at the end of April on 35mm film.
 
Pay will be $75 per day.

Shepherd: The Father of Daciana. He tends a flock of sheep in the pastures of Romania. He cares deeply for Daciana’s safety and gifts her a scarf that will protect her from the evil Pricolici. His belief in legend is a great influence on Daciana.

Eastern European featurs. In the age range of 35.

Daciana: A girl who lives with her Father a Shepherd. She cares for animals, especially her Ewe, Mioritza. She has a child‐like belief in Romanian legends that are told to her by her Father. A scarf is given to her as protection from the Pricolici. She has great faith in its power. Her hatred for the Pricolici and devotion to her sheep gives her courage.

Looking for a young girl with eastern European features between the ages of 7-12.

* Will be filming primarily in the evening/night.

Man/Pricolici: A creature of legend that becomes a wolf in the light of the moon. It preys on sheep and obeys the commands of the Devil who created him. This character could be anywhere between 25-45, also eastern European features.

* This character will be on stilts for some of the film.

All Actors should be prepared to convey what is happening in your sides with just physical actions as well as with the dialogue. They will be asking you  to act for them both ways. They are allotting each actor 3 minutes of audition time.

The University of Utah Department of Film and Media Arts announces an open casting call for this year’s student film productions. Actors of all ages and experience levels are welcome.

Prepared monologues are preferred, but cold readings will be available.

Auditions will be held in Room 271 at the Fine Arts Building (across from the stadium) on Friday, February 25 from 3-8:30 PM.

Most projects will not pay but this will be a great opportunity to gain experience with speaking roles, build credits on your resume and reel, and to meet new up and coming directors.

"Weighted" Casting Call - Male/Female 23-40, Utah

February 16, 2011

ADDED AUDITION DATE THIS WEEK!

An upcoming BYU Senior Capstone project, "Weighted," is a short film about a girl who can't fly. Or rather, her story about being the twin sister of a boy who discovers this surprising ability. Set in a realistic contemporary world, this piece is both comedic along with poignant sibling relationship drama.

Damon, age 23-28, Slim to Average
Damon has just discovered a newfound ability to fly.  He tries to get used to and master his talent, as well as console his sister who is unable to fly.
Pay: TBD ($100+)
 
Maya, age 23-28, Slim to Average
Maya is coming to terms with her brothers new ability to fly. She is a talented rockclimber. 
Pay: TBD ($100+)
 
BOTH of these parts are going to be fairly physically demanding. Rock climbing is going to be the main skill, but there will be some harnesses and such to support the actors as well for special effects.
 
Boss, age 30-40,Slim to Average
This is a very minor role.  He is the boss of Maya and merely comments on her climbing abilities.
Pay: $50 for the job.

House Bill 99 State tax incentives

February 16, 2011
House bill 99, Incentives For Motion Pictures-Amendment, Chief Sponsor Rep. Greg Hughes. Changes current rebate percentage from 20 percent to 25 percent and removes any sunset language from the previous bill SB 14. Unanimously passed House committee last Thursday and heads to the House floor later this week or early the next. please contact your representatives and ask them to vote for this bill.
 
This bill clears a way to attract a television series by removing the sunset clause and it ups are incentive that will help us compete with other states. Please support this bill and contact your legislators. It is by far the most important thing we can do to attract more work to the state of Utah.
