This year is a very important year for the Motion Picture Industry, we need to make sure our voices are heard. We need to keep our incentives going and hopefully have them grow in order to attract a TV Series and bring more work to the state.

Please come and listen to Spencer Eccles and if you are not a member of the MPAU, Please Join, we need to keep the film industry growing, so that there will be Jobs for actors and crew members for years to come.

Dear MPAU Member,

I am happy to report that Spencer Eccles, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, has accepted our invitation to speak to us at our Forum on July 7^th, 2010.  Mr. Eccles adjusted his schedule so that he could be with us, and I think it is important that we hear his message.  Basically your Board has asked him to share his thoughts regarding the 2011 Legislative Session, at which time SB 14 is up for review.  As many of you know, GOED is responsible for reviewing and approving applications for Utah’s Motion Picture Incentive and administering the program. 

It is important that as many of you as possible attend this Forum so that Mr. Eccles can have an indication as to the size of our membership, as well as the fact that we represent a true cross section of our industry.  I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, July 7^th at 7:00 p.m. at Redman Movies & Stories, 1075 South 700 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84104.

Currently seeking talent for “IMAGINE” an independent short (30 min) film. Created by Jahanara Saleh, Jonathan Steven Green, Austin James Green.

The filmmakers intention in producing this film is for film festivals. Will be submitting the film to around 20 film festivals.  Due to  IMAGINE being a short film, they have no budget, so this is a NON PAID job. However they produce great, professional level work and are looking for actors who can deliver the same quality of work.

IMAGINE will be shot in the month of August.

The film is separated in two shoots. Week One – Aug 9^th -15^th     (Cedar City, UT)

SYNOPSIS

Imagine: A physiological drama, is about John Morris, a paramedic, who lives under a cloud of guilt after being unable to save his daughter, Brooke From drowning at a public pool.  The guilt from her death has left him numb and has shattered his relationship with his wife, Kate. Through Charged water, water that has been influenced by specific thoughts or energy, an experiment held by Dr. Arlen, John begins to connect with his daughter in an unknown world. 

Through the reoccurring events in the unknown world he becomes convinced that he has the ability to change the events that have happened in the past. confident that he can prevent her from drowning he tries to convince Kate that he can make everything the way it used to be.

Jahanara Saleh and the Green Brothers, Austin and Jonathan Green have all achieved their BA degrees in film Production from the University of Utah. Their work has been noticed in several Film festivals including, San Francisco, LDS, X96, Park City film Series, The Door Post Film Project, and a nominee for best film of the year at the SLC, Art Festival 2010.

Tell us a little of your family’s story.  We need you to share your “food problem” (picky eaters, can’t cook, stuck on a few recipes, want to eat healthier, whatever it may be.)  Then, we need you to share your “family problem” (everyone is consumed by technology, no bonding, never eat together, over scheduled etc.)  Also, we’d love you to share any family interests/hobbies that you have as well as a little video (or photo) of your home, inside and out.  The video doesn’t need to be long.  We just want to get a feel for your family and your story.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Submit asap, no later than Friday, July 2, 2010

STORY: Dinnertime expert Liz Edmunds wants to help families turn their hectic (or nonexistent) dinner hour into a delicious, fun, and enriching family habit.  She’ll evaluate current dinner scenarios and teach families strategies for a successful family dinner — including communicating, prioritizing, planning, budgeting, and of course cooking.  She will help families get control of mealtime!

EACH EPISODE: If your family is chosen to appear on The Food Nanny, your commitment will look something like this:

o       1-2 (15-30 min) phone conversations with the director prior to filming

o       1 full day of filming in your home with your entire family (based on your schedule)

o       You’ll receive $1,000 as a location rental fee (for the use of your home) not to mention the knowledge, tips and ideas to help improve your family’s mealtime!
