Idaho-Please urge your legislature to pass this bill if you feel it is worthy. This could really help our INDUSTRY!  Passing this bill  we feel will help to bring in many larger, higher budget Productions and stimulate the economy.
 
House Bill 525 is moving through the legislature this session. It will amend existing legislation passed in 2008 in order to allow for monies other than from the state general fund to be added to the incentive fund, which has not been funded since the passing of the original bill. Briefly, the FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION BUSINESS REBATE FUND is a 20% rebate on production expenditures made in Idaho once certain conditions are met (minimum spend, eligible projects, number of Idaho hires etc.) It was to be funded at $1,000,000 with a per-production cap of $500,000. The intent of the 2008 bill is to attract low-budget productions that would hire Idahoans and spend dollars in the state. It would be eligible for out-of-state companies as well as Idaho-based companies. It has not been funded since passage due to the state budget deficit.

Why only low-budget productions? Because studio pictures are being shot in places that offer uncapped rebates at higher percentages. We would not have been able to pass a bill with unlimited rebates such as New Mexico and Louisiana. The FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION BUSINESS REBATE FUND was intended to be a reasonable start.

PTC Announces Auditions for Hamlet & Dracula, PAID Positions, Utah

Pioneer Theatre Company Announces Local Auditions for:
HAMLET and DRACULA

Pioneer Theatre Company announces local auditions for their productions of both HAMLET and DRACULA. Auditions for both shows will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Callbacks are scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2010. Exact callback times will be announced to auditioners.

AEA-only auditions will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, but AEA members may sign up for any time slot. Non-AEA auditioners may audition from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on that same date.

AEA (Equity) members may email Elizabeth Williamson beginning May 13, 2010 to sign up for a time slot. This service is available only to AEA members; non-AEA auditioners must come in and sign up for an audition time slot on the board inside Room 325 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. The sign-up sheet will be posted by noon on Thursday, May 13, 2010. AEA members may email Elizabeth Williamson at elizabeth.williamson@ptc.utah.edu only after May 13, 2010.

Auditions will be held in Room 237 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. For the HAMLET audition, actors must prepare a monologue from Shakespeare; monologues should be no longer than 3 minutes. Scripts and sides for HAMLET will NOT be provided for this audition.

Actors auditioning for DRACULA will be asked to read from the script. Scripts and audition sides for DRACULA will be available for checkout from the PTC Business Office (Room 325) on Thursday, May 13, 2010. DRACULA scripts may be checked out on an overnight basis from the theatre offices located in Room 325 at Simmons PMT.

A photo and resume are recommended. 

Rehearsal dates for the production of HAMLET are Monday, August 23, 2010 through Thursday, September 16, 2010. HAMLET production dates are Friday, September 17, 2010 through Saturday, October 2, 2010.

Rehearsal dates for the production of DRACULA are Monday, September 27, 2010 through Thursday, October 21, 2010. DRACULA production dates are Friday, October 22, 2010 through Saturday, November 6, 2010.

PTC Artistic Director Charles Morey will direct both productions. All roles in both HAMLET and DRACULA are open. There are roles in HAMLET for 13 men and 3 women. In the cast of DRACULA there are roles for 8 men and 6 women. All auditioners must be 18 years of age or older.
 
All positions with Pioneer Theatre Company are paid!

Actors needed for i48 film festival
 
My name is Cody Gittings, and I will be leading a team for this year's i48 Film Festival. For those of you who aren't familiar with this event, starting on June 4th teams are given a packet of information containing a genre, line of dialogue, character name and prop to be included in this four to seven minute short. Given the nature of this 48 hour festival, we do not necessary know exactly what actors we will need, so we are asking that you be effectively "on call" during this two day period starting on Friday the 4th at 6PM. We will most likely not be needing you to show up until the morning of the 5th, however.
 
Unfortunately, since this is an amateur project with not much of a budget, we will not be able to pay our actors. We hope that you will recognize the chance to be a part of this creative film-making experience. Please respond with a resume and headshot if possible. Thank you!

The teams will be in charge of a marketing campaign for a major restaurant chain.

There are 2 positions that need to be booked, Brand Manager and the Brand Ambassador

The role of the Manager is to excite, motivate and distribute materials to consumers. You must also oversee all of the actions of the Brand Ambassador who is working along side of you. It is also your responsibility to take photos throughout the day and email them to your program manager at the end of each shift. A local Ad Agency is looking for a couple of models next week (Wed. May 19 or Thurs. May 11).
 
The product is Xinsurance (a company which provides protection from gaps in traditional insurance coverage). The headline is "That's not covered." For the shoot, they will want people that are willing to appear as though they're not wearing anything (for the shoot of course, they will have you in speedos or bikinis, which they will then remove in post. It will appear as a big blank spot as if there is nothing there.)

Model 1: Male / late 40's - early 50's / Normal body type (not built and not too overweight)

Project:  “The Parable of the Good Samaritan”

As Casting was not able to completely cast from their first round of auditions for, “The Parable of the Good Samaritan,” they will have another round this week, Thursday, May 13th.  

They will conduct the auditions from 12:00pm until 5:30pm in Provo, Utah

Departing from their previous practice of hiring the most capable actor, the producer for this project (and all the New Testament projects in general) is very set on finding truly “authentic” looking actors. The director is also willing to work with less experienced actors if they have “the look”.

They seek talent who strongly resemble the ancient Mediterranean peoples of North Africa, the Middle East, and Southern Europe.  Specifically, they seek individuals with the following physical traits:

• Skin coloration with an “olive” or “brown” tone;

• A prominent nose and bone structure;

• Typically black (or very dark) hair, unless it is graying (or bald);

• Prominent (or full) eyebrows.

For this project, it is not required that you be a member of the LDS Church.

Samaritan:  Large build; darker features (Persian); 30’s or 40’s
