Short Film Casting, Rubberball Productions, Utah

February 26, 2010
Here are the casting details for an upcoming short film Rubberball Productions is producing.

Characters:

1.  Female, 45-55 years old, Caucasian:  This woman will be playing the part of the main character's mother. Looking for someone in the "Frances McDormand" mold, but most importantly they are looking for someone that can pull off the part of a mother in a small town.

2.  Male, 20-30 years old, Caucasian:  This person will be cast in the part of a bully.  He's a recently graduated from high school bully that has nothing better to do than to stick around and keep bullying those he used to bully in high school.  Think a more rural, small town version of "Biff Tannen."  This person should be bigger in stature, but once again, hoping to find someone that can bring the right attitude to the part.

3.  Male, 20-30 years old, Caucasian:  This person will be cast as the bully's weasel sidekick.  This male should be a scrawny, weasel-y kind of guy that follows the bully around and laughs a lot.  He should be shorter and skinnier than the bully.

4.  Female, 20-25 years old, Caucasian:  This person will be cast as the annoying girl that has a crush on the main character. Need someone that can bring quirk and authenticity (not too over the top and theatrical) to a character that talks too much and too fast.

The mother, the bully, and the "annoying" girl  we will have script parts that need to be memorized.
As far as the overall scope of the film goes, it will be done primarily as a promo piece (something that can be included in their demo reel), but also as a test piece to try out different techniques and gear.  As such, their budget doesn't exceed what they have normally for one of their stock shoots.

Pay will be $20/hr.

A Casting date has not been 100% set but Rubberball is looking to put a casting together sometime late next week, could be Thursday or Friday in the afternoon to test for these parts.

If you are interested, fit any of the above roles and could be available for a casting, email crazeagency@sisna.com or bookings@crazeagency.com your:

    Name
    Age
    Role you are interested in

We will submit your info. to casting for consideration. If selected for a casting, we will contact you with details.

We need your submission by Monday, March 1, 1:00pm.

Thanks,

Casting Call- 2 Men 30's- 40's, Utah

February 26, 2010
CASTING CALL - RE-ENACTMENT OF SCENE FROM "GHOST AND THE DARKNESS"

Pay:  $100 per actor + $50 for gas.

Character Breakdown:

Charles ‘Redbeard’ Remington
 – caucasian (mid-40s) Professional hunter brought in to assist in killing the lions so work on the bridge can continue.  Redbeard prefers the wilderness over society and isn’t accustom to taking orders.  He prefers to work alone and often can be a menace toward those in opposition to his opinions or ideas.

Redbeard's appearance: Stern. Rugged. His beard doesn't necessarily need to be red. Very tan. He's not that big of a man, shorter in height, under 6'.

John Patterson – caucasian (Early to mid-30s) A well established bridge builder assigned to aid in the construction of a railroad through Africa.  John has always had a deep fascination with Africa, part of the reason he took the job, but he’s also eager to finish the project so he can return home to his wife and newborn son in England.

Patterson's appearance: Well groomed and presentable.  He's still a man's man, but not as hard on the surface.  Good looking; not terribly tall, but slightly bigger than Redbeard.

Accents are not necessary, but people are welcome to come prepared with one.  Patterson's accent would be a mix of British Proper with an underlying Irish tone.  (He's Irish but has served with the British Army and lived in England for almost 10 years)

Westminister's Performance Degree Program

February 25, 2010
Westminster’s Theatre Department is proud to announce the creation of a new undergraduate degree program which will offer three tracks: a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre performance, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in technical theatre and a Bachelor of Arts in theatre.

The BFA program prepares students for entry into professional theatre and/or graduate studies in theatre. The generalist major provides a course of study for students with an avocational interest in theatre and students who plan to pursue graduate studies in theatrical arts. All programs are designed to provide students with practical production experiences that will develop their ability to express themselves creatively in the theatre.

“Through our new program, students will gain a broad understanding of theatre and theatre history and become disciplined in a variety of specific areas such as auditioning, acting technique, stage-management and stage design,” said Nina Vought, assistant theatre professor. “We want our students to cultivate a healthy mind-body awareness, so all performance students will be required to clock in time at our fitness center, as well as blog about their experience and discuss their insights with their faculty advisors.”

Students interested in the new theatre program will need to fill out the audition form online and will be called to schedule an audition time. Students interested in a BFA in performance will need to come prepared with two contrasting monologues and have the option of singing 16 bars of a song in musical theatre style. All auditioners need to provide their own accompaniment. For a BFA in technical theatre, students will be required to bring their portfolio of past work that they have done as well as any references. The academic BA in theatre requires no audition or portfolio review.

For more information on the new theatre major, visit: http://www.westminstercollege.edu/theatre, or contact Michael Vought at mvought@westminstercollege.edu.

There are several roles available with varying degrees of parts, so there should be something for almost everyone. Most of the roles will be scripted, but there will be some that allow for some improvisation and these are about 7 - 10  minute TV spots.

This will be copy credit work, but remember, these students are going to be the up and coming film and television makers, and they will remember talented actors who helped them out!

Here is a rundown of what they are looking for.

A host for a political television show.  Male or Female, 30 - 40  years of age, professional speaking voice.

4 Males 20- 30 (African American preferred), 1 blonde woman, skinny, ditzy, one Feminazi.

An athletic woman or a Richard Simmons type personality is needed for an aerobic exercise program.

A puppeteer (not a ton of experience necessary) and 3 - 4 children 8- 11 years of age to help demonstrate some sound props.

2 sophisticated looking men between 35 -45 years of age, articulate, preferable some movie critique knowledge for a movie critic show.

This should be a fun event as they are trying out their television producing skills and have some fun programs lined up.
