Pioneer Theatre Company Announces Children's Auditions for

A Christmas Story

An open call audition for children ages 5 through 13 for PTC's holiday production, A Christmas Story, will be held on Saturday, September 12th, 2009.

The audition will be held from 2:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. on the campus of the University of Utah, in the West Institute Building. The building is located at 1340 East 300 South, Salt Lake City, UT, directly west of Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. Auditions will take place in Rooms 130 and 150 of the West Institute Building.

Auditions are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, parents must contact Elizabeth Williamson at 801-585-5855 or via email at elizabeth.williamson@ptc.utah.edu.

Scripts and sides will be available for checkout on an overnight basis from the Business Office of Pioneer Theatre Company (Room 325 of the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre) as early as
noon on Monday, August 31st, 2009.

All roles are currently available. There are parts for children ages 5 through 13; children must be under 14. If your child turns 14 during the run of the production (from December 4th through
December 19th, 2009), please do not audition.

A Christmas Story is the stage version of the classic holiday film by Philip Grecian, about Ralphie's quest for a Red-Ryder air rifle.

Rehearsal dates for the production are Monday, November 9th, 2009 - Thursday, December 3rd, 2009; performance dates are December 4th, 2009 - December 19th, 2009. Guest Paul Barnes
(who recently directed Romeo & Juliet at PTC) returns to direct the production.

Open Auditions- Teaser Trailer shoot for Feature Film, Male and Female, various ages, Utah

Ritual Pictures is casting for The Light of Daigh Teaser/Trailer. The Teaser shoot is scheduled for October 3-4 of 2009. (Looking to fill several other roles for the feature, including lead and supporting roles, so make an impression early.)

Audition for LDS New Testament Prototype, Males 18-40, Utah

Audition for New Testament Prototype

Will conduct auditions next week for the role of an apostle at the time of Christ.  This project is preliminary to the upcoming New Testament project scheduled to shoot next year.

CHARACTER:  Caucasian Male, age 18-40, slight-to-medium build.  Dark coloring (brown eyes & hair) is preferred, although not a necessity.  (F.Y.I. -- If you have light hair and are chosen for this role, they will need to dye your hair.)  Having a beard is NOT a prerequisite.  Hair that is a bit longer than a "missionary" cut is helpful and preferred, although again, NOT a prerequisite.  (You may, however, be asked to grow it out.)

REQUIRED:  A current temple recommend and/or bishop's worthiness clearance.

ACTING REQUIREMENTS:  This will mostly be about physical acting -- no lines.  Hitting your mark and being able to physically follow directions (turn your head this way... raise your hand that way...) will be a good part of the criteria from which we'll make our selections.

Getting paid from hiring Clients, all Craze Talent please read!!!

HOW GETTING PAID WORKS FROM THE HIRING CLIENTS WORK

As many of you have witnessed the Craze Agency has booked hundreds of our talent over the last few months. This is a fantastic thing but can also sometimes create a problem so please read the entire email so that you may understand how payment works.

 Some national and even local Clients that you work for take their sweet time to pay you and us, even when we bill them with a 30-day voucher. The models and actors who have been represented by us for years have noticed some clients pay almost immediately and some take a very long time.

Often the reason why it takes a while for all of us to get paid is that the specific client that pays you the talent, has to first bill one, two or three other clients (usually the Main company or producer, then the Photographer, then the ad agency or the casting company etc.) for them to get paid. Many times each of those clients are on a 30-day voucher. Unfortunately it is the agency and talent that are paid last; it has always been that way.

Please rest assured; you will be paid as soon as we do!!! 

We have always and will always pay you as soon as the check clears our bank account! You will receive an email stating when you can receive your check the date it clears.

We just do not have time to constantly field questions about payment and become very wary of talent that continue to call asking when they will be paid. We do not know until we receive it. It is out of our control, we are not the ones hiring or paying you to do the job. We are promoting you and negotiating the rates on your behalf.

We do promise to do everything we can to help you get paid in a timely manner.

If you cannot work under their system please do not accept the job. Often Major Films and SAG projects do not take more than 30 days. We hate having to wait as bad as you do (we all have bills to pay). We do everything in our power to collect ASAP, but in the 10 years we have been booking talent it has always been this way and will probably never change with the some of the companies that hire talent. The clients know they get a lot of people work so if we harass them too much they will just use someone else so you or Craze will not have the opportunity to work with them again. If after working with a client we find out they continually take way to long to pay we will usually stop working with them unless they are really big contracts. When we do Government jobs they sometimes take 3-6 months to pay.

Watch your emails, we will email you notification when we receive your check and it has cleared! When the client pays you directly you are responsible to pay Craze 10% of the Gross amount (highest) on extra work under $100 per day and 15% of the Gross on everything else. Please send it to Craze immediately when the check clears your bank. We will not bug you about it so please pay it so we can continue to promote you. We cannot afford to promote anyone and will take you off out talent list if we do not receive our commission.

To help insure payment when you are booked on jobs please remember to bring appropriate ID and fill out all forms legibly if you are asked to. Keep track of the dates you work, the name of the client and what the job was just in case. Make sure you understand what you are signing. Do not ever sign contracts unless the agency has notified you to do so and knows what are signing!!!!

Currently casting 3 Female and 4 Male rolls for a short drama film, which will be shooting in late October.

Auditions are currently being scheduled for Saturday, September 5 in Salt Lake City.

Production is offering compensation. Exact pay TBD and will be negotiated upon casting and Actor experience.

THE FEMALE CHARACTERS:

AMY - Female, Mid 20’s – Early 30’s, mother whose child has died and her relationship with her husband is strained. This is a dramatic role which entails a diverse range of emotion. 

YOUNG BRIDE - Female, Late Teens to Early 20’s, newly married at her new home with her husband. This is a dramatic role which requires more physical acting/emoting than speaking. 

WIFE - Female, Mid 20’s – Mid 30’s, wife who longs for the attention she once had when she was younger. This is a dramatic role which entails a subtle ability to show the truth in body language rather than the words she speaks.

Feature Film Audition opportunity, 8/24/09 and 8/25/09, Utah

Local Utah Director has just finished writing a screenplay for a feature film that they are currently in the pre production stages with and are now ready to begin auditions for the lead roles in the film.
 
Auditions will be held on Monday August 24 and Tuesday, August 25 at 4:00pm. Will go until about 6:00pm. Get there early.

Sam: 13-16 (to play 14-15), Sophie's brother, a good kid, but he's going through that phase where he can be difficult and withdrawn and retreat to his room to play video games, through his involvement in the Smurfs' quest to get home, he reconnects with his parents and sister.

Actors needed for independent film (Provo/Orem)

A local production company called Misfit Films (www.misfit-films.com) is shooting a no budget feature called, "The Ollerton Odyssey, Tome:1." As the type of film suggests, the point is to spend as little on it as possible. So, cast and crew do not get paid and they are working on it for the sole purpose of working on a feature. The film is an action comedy, and has so far been a lot of fun to work on, but they are still needing to fill a couple of roles.

This is what they are looking for.

1 Male (40-45yrs), athletic build, martial arts experience a plus (has a fight scene)

20-30 Male and Female college aged extras (18-26yrs) for house party scene

5-6 Males (20-30yrs), 5'10-6'3, 170-230lbs, strong and agile. This will be one full day of shooting and will be a large fight scene.

1 Male (25-35yrs), 6'5 or taller, athletic build and intimidating presence

They will set up a time and place to meet and get you more information on the project. Shooting will be from now to the end of September, usually on weekends, however the extras will be needed on Wednesday the 26th of August.

The endgame for this film is to submit it to festivals and attempt domestic and international distribution.

We are working with the Client/Editor of a new Magazine called, "Trendy Magazine." This modeling offer is for the Magazine which is classy and upscale...
 
Looking for Models to be the face of the new magazine. This magazine will have all the latest trends in today’s world.
 
Looking for Female Models only, pre-teen girls ages 10-12. Your duties will be to model for various issues of Trendy Magazine and do Promotionals for the magazine...

Photo shoots can take up to 2 days and pay up to $400 per day or $50- $80 per hour.
 
Models need to be:
Ages: 10-12, any Ethnicity. Attractive Commercial Print types.
Height: Any
Body Types: Medium- Athletic- Petite- Thin- Lean Muscle
Hair Color: Any
 
Client will be holding a Meet and Greet/Q&A Interviews on Friday, August 28
 
Interviews will held from 3:00pm- 5:00pm. Each Interview will last about 30 minutes and will give you the opportunity to meet the Client and for the Client to meet you. You will also receive additional information on what they are looking for and what Modeling opportunities are available to you with this Magazine.
 
**A Parent will need to be with you at this meeting**
