-----------------------------

Quaint, quirky, fun, little-known comedy written by John Nash in 1947  about Rex and Larry, two friends who go hunting in the backwoods of northern New York in the late 40's/early 50's and find a hermit living by himself named Romeo Montague. Having been reared by his Uncle Benvolio who hated women, Romeo has some rather skewed views of these "creatures" they call women and has never even seen one in all of his 21 years. Seeing an opportunity for a little mayhem, Larry and Rex decide to invite Romeo to come live with Larry, who also happens to live with his two sisters, and inevitable hi jinks ensue.

Here is a Character breakdown:

Romeo Montague: Early 20's, Extremely handsome, athletic young man, deeply tanned and neatly combed. Speaks rather properly, claims to be a student of science who's vocabulary coincides with his claims and is VERY naive.

Larry Mc Neil: Late 20's/early30's. Somewhat short tempered, head of the house, lives with his 2 sisters. Well set-up young man, possesses the obvious confidence which may be associated with one who has always had money at his command, though he doesn't have any now.

Rex Simmons: roughly the same age as Larry. Well-dressed young man with an engaging personality and a beaming smile. We soon learn Rex is quite the coward and anything that could possibly get him in trouble causes him to run in the other direction...literally

Connie Mc Neil: 20's, Attractive girl. Puts on a front that she won't be pushed around by anyone, certainly not a man, though she finds she has a weakness for handsome strangers.

Billie McNeil: 19, younger sister of Connie and Larry. Attractive, pert little thing; could marry Rex if he would ever show some courage.

Forewoman: any age, though prefer 30's-40's. Tall, "Amazon Queen" of a woman, large, domineering and not very bright. Enjoys the thought of repossessing the McNeil furniture and commanding her four helpers. Part MUST be double cast, though one of them will be pre-cast.

LaReina: early 20's, pretty Spanish maid, ala
Spain. Speaks with an accent, though it's written in lines. Could also be French. Spitfire. Would like someone petite as she is constantly at war with the Forewoman.

Aunt Rachel: a vivacious woman of forty, who looks thirty, and acts 21 and has an outstanding personality. Aunt to the McNeil children.

Orpha Finley: 20's, attractive, reserved girl. a Pretty bit of "Heart Balm" for Larry.

Sue, insurance agent: average girl attired for business duties. Always lugging a small case under arm, bulging with papers. Has some business to attend with the vanishing Rex.

Four Helpers to the Forewoman: Will cast young girls (10-15). They move in unison at all times and are drowned in oversized painters coveralls, with their only feminine attributes being their hair.

Vital Stats:

New Movie Project coming to Utah- STAY TUNED

June 24, 2009

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah's new movie incentives bill has landed the state its first big-time motion picture project.

Take the Walt Disney company, combine it with Pixar and Utah scenery, and you're going to have the movie "John Carter of Mars." It's based on a series of books about a Civil War vet transported to the Red Planet.

Governor's Office of Economic Development Director Jason Perry is stoked. "This is a place where Disney will start looking as the place where they will want to do all of their films," he said.

The film will bring hundreds of cast and crew members to the state during production. "This is over 400 people involved in full-time work for seven-straight months here in the State of Utah. This is going to put our film crews to work. It's really going to put us on the map as a place to film," Perry said.

He continued, "This is exactly what we told our legislature would happen when we got a better incentive program for film. We will have 400 people coming constantly in and out of the State of Utah, staying in our motel rooms. They'll be eating in our restaurants."

Utah approved up to $5.5 million in tax credits for the $28 million of work done here. Production is expected to begin in November, and Disney believes the film could become its next big movie series, akin to "Pirates of the Caribbean.

Updates to follow as we receive them.

Student Short Film Auditions, Utah

June 23, 2009

Casting call to be held in Holladay/Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, June 27th, 2009 from 1:00pm to 4:30pm.

“THE WRONG ORDER”

A five-night short film production shot from July 27 to July 31.

SYNOPSIS: An assassin fumbles to keep his target from ingesting the poison he put in her drink after he discovers that she is innocent.

NOTE: This is a Student Film and they cannot pay talent.

EXPECTATIONS: This is a short film for submission to the Sundance Festival. This is not a typical student film. “THE WRONG ORDER” is a comic suspense thriller that explores the chaos simmering just beneath our every facade of order. The entire picture takes place at an outdoor Italian restaurant and follows Rob, an obsessively neat assassin who functions well only when things go smoothly, as he tries to prevent his (recently discovered innocent) target from ingesting poison, and the consequent drama that underscores the flirtations and romantic setting produce a charming result.

CHARACTERS:

ROB- A skilled assassin between the ages of 25 and 35, with short hair. The protagonist of the film, Rob obsesses over neatness and appreciates nothing more than an operation executed smoothly. A gentleman, he concerns himself with table manners and appearances, but begins to recognize that beneath his every façade of order simmers chaos into which he is swept as he tries to prevent his supposed target from ingesting poison.

ALLIE- A beautiful young woman between the ages of 20 and 30. An ex-social butterfly, Allie has abandoned all pretense and has resolved to live life without regrets after ending a short and difficult marriage that represented the fragile façade of order and neatness. Indeed, rather than conforming to any stereotypical appearance, she is prone to embrace the chaos of life and make the most of it.

LITTLE GIRL- An adorable little girl between the ages of 5 and 10. Innocent and oblivious, the Little Girl is accidentally swept into the chaos when the Waiter unknowingly delivers a poisoned drink to her, and it is thanks only to Rob's heroic efforts that she is saved from peril.
