Anyone interested in going out on print work auditions should consider have a professional portfolio. This is a must if you want to look professional.

Twain's dead play

Pioneer Theatre Company will hold auditions for "Is He Dead?," a newly discovered comedy by Mark Twain, adapted by David Ives.

The play is about Millet, a brilliant but impoverished painter, whose work no one is willing to pay for until he dies. His friends persuade him to fake his own death, and Millet hatches a scheme to make him rich and famous.

Come prepared to read from the script, which will be available for overnight checkout. The audition is open to Equity and non-Equity actors. Callbacks will be Saturday, June 6.

"Acting Up!" June 6, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Room B1, SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 S. State, Orem

SCERA's award-winning advanced musical theater and performance team is open to boys and girls from grades 10-12.

Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of two contrasting-style songs; an accompanist will be provided, please bring sheet music.

Actors should also come ready to perform a monologue under one-minute in length. There will be a two-part dance audition — group work and partner work. Please come dressed to move.

Auditioners should plan on staying the whole day and bring a lunch and snacks. Some will be excused early.

Those auditioning need to register at the main office of the SCERA Center prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 5. There is no fee to audition; the office is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

"Acting Up" members meet on Saturday mornings throughout the school year for training and rehearsal. They do many performances, workshops and competitions throughout the year.

Idaho Dance Theatre

Current Positions Available for 2009 - 2010 season include paid dancers and unpaid apprentices, both Male and Female.

Dancers are contracted for 30 weeks of part-time work (approximately 16 hours per week). There are 3 main-stage concerts per season, as well as numerous school shows performed throughout the area. IDT is a contemporary performing company. Strong technique and performing skills are necessary. Benefits include ballet class, physical therapy and chiropractic care as needed.
