Searching for David’s Heart was made into an ABC Family Channel movie

This play is based on the author’s novel of the same name published by Scholastic.
It’s on school reading lists all over Utah. Hundreds of thousands of this Novel have been sold.

All actors cast will be paid an honorarium.
Middle and High School actors: $50.00
College student and adult actors: $100.00

You will be required to pay 15% Commission from your total pay to your Agent if Cast in a Role!!

CAST BREAK DOWN

FEMALE ROLES

DARCY DEETON: (lead) Age 12 (please audition if you are older but can play younger.) Insecure, deep, her huge emotional journey is at the heart of the play.
CLAIRE DEETON: Age range 40 – 50. Darcy’s mom. A nurse. Loving.
ENID MANNERS: Age range 50 – 80. Gullible, innocent, sweet.
DR. LINDA PAWLING: Age range 35 – 50. Winston’s mom. A Pediatrician. Compassionate, exuberant.
CRYSTAL EVANS: Age 17. David’s girlfriend. Lovely.
AMANDA BLISS: Age 13, a mean classmate.
CHARLENE: Age 18, an escape artist’s assistant.

MALE ROLES

SAM WEISS: (lead) Almost 13. (please audition if you are older but can play younger)
Darcy’s best friend and soulmate. Smart, funny.
HARRY HOUDINI: (lead) Age range 30-60. The one and only. The consummate showman with a huge ego. Impassioned. Goes on an emotional journey.
WINSTON PAWLING: Age 13. The recipient of a heart transplant.
DOUG DEETON: Darcy’s dad. A cop. Tough.
AARON WEISS: Age range 35-60. Sam’s dad. A public defender lawyer.
DAVID DEETON: Age 18. Darcy’s big brother. A really good guy. Has faith.
DR. JOHN PAWLING: Winston’s dad. A doctor. Compassionate.
AMAZIN EDDIE: Age 18 – 25. Low rent escape artist.
