This is paid $100 a day and it will be 4 days of filming in April. 


THE STORY
This is a story about being a kid. And all the excitement and heartache that comes with growing up. 
With the hot sun overhead and red rock underfoot, our film finds a powerful, yet everyday moment between a
brother and a sister in the deserts of southern Utah. A dramatic short film, “Lizard King” follows two siblings–
HASTY, an intrepid seven-year-old girl, and her irritable older brother ROBBIE– who must stick together to make it 
through a life more difficult than most. 
Raised by a strict and unwelcoming stepmother and surrounded by bratty stepsisters, Hasty and Robbie live in a 
home where nobody seems to want them. Feisty and resourceful– even stashing away lucky charms for those awful 
days when they’re sent to their rooms without supper– they often only have each other to rely on. But when Robbie 
captures a new pet in their backyard, a foot long lizard he’d prefer not to share, their loyalty to each other will be 
tested and an unforgettable moment will be forever seared into Hasty’s young memory. 
Inspired by true events, “Lizard King” is a coming-of-age story that explores the growing pains we all experience 
with our siblings and the unspoken bonds between brothers and sisters, which despite the setbacks only grow 
stronger with age.

THE CHARACTERS
HASTY: 7-10, light features
Smart, resilient and brave beyond her years, Hasty is a feisty little girl who has no trouble standing up to the authority 
of her stepmother, Helen. An outsider in her own home, Hasty’s step-siblings refuse to play with her and her older 
brother, Robbie, barely ever acknowledges her.

ROBBIE: 9-12, light features
Hasty’s older brother, Robbie is an adventurous boy and often up to some kind of mischief, making him a difficult 
child to raise. The oldest of the house, Robbie keeps to himself, always distancing himself from the girls, who’ve 
learned to be careful of his temper.

HELEN: 30-40, darker features
A stern mother of three and step-mother of two, Helen is trying her best to raise her children properly and keep
her home in order, but the task can be overwhelming, particularly with her misbehaving step-children.

SARAH: 7-10, darker features
Helen’s oldest daughter, Sarah is a goody-two-shoes and quick to tattle on anyone who steps outside her mother’s 
rules, but in particular, Hasty, her chief rival in the house.

GIRLS (3): 5-10, darker features
