Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is casting an
untitled late '60s pop musical by Burton Young. Kristin Hanggi, dir.; RJ Durell,
choreo.; Duncan Stewart and Benton Whitley, casting dirs. Rehearsals start Apr.
2. Performances start May 21 and are ongoing at the Planet Hollywood Resort
& Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Seeking—Rhonda: early 20s, sexy, think early Elizabeth Taylor type with a good heart underneath a vixen exterior, good comedic skills, strong voice and dance skills; Caroline: early 20s, proper, pretty, good girl, good comedic skills, strong voice and dancer; Evelyn: early 20s, sensible, smart, maybe a touch of a tomboy, good comedic skills, strong voice and dancer; Liz: early 20s, sexy, wild, temper, good comedic skills, strong voice and dancer; Frankie: early 20s, funny, chubby, big guy who can move, loveable, good comedic skills, strong voice and dancer, drums, bass/rhythm guitar skills a plus; Wedge: early 20s, sarcastic, wise-ass, attractive, good comedic skills, strong voice and dancer, drums, bass/rhythm guitar skills a plus; Doogie: early 20s, straight-laced, smart, good looking, careful, good comedic skills, strong voice and dancer, drums, bass/rhythm guitar skills a plus; Rip's Friends: 20s, two bigger guys, constantly seen with Rip, imposing, comedic, big mouths and presence, strong voices and dancers; Dancers/Beach Types: looking for fierce dancers who sing, fun types, looks, etc., youthful, sexy, energetic, and versatile in dance styles, technique and special skills a plus, ensemble.
Equity chorus auditions will be held Feb. 9, 9 a.m. (sign-in 8:30 a.m.) for females, and 1 p.m. (sign-in 12:30 p.m.) for males, at Fern Adair Conservatory for the Arts, 3265 East Patrick Lane, Las Vegas. Chorus rules are in effect. A monitor will be provided. Be warmed up and ready to dance with flats and heels. Some will be asked to stay and sing; prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo pop song in the style of the late '60s California pop/rock. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Bring pix & résumés stapled together. Note: "This show exists because of the producers' love and passion for a popular late '60s California pop/rock, particularly the vocal blend and harmonies of the style. Achieving that vocal sound and blend is key. We are looking for actors with smooth, vibrato free voices that blend well together along with the ability to sing constant 4 part harmonies. Please stay away from traditional "Broadway sound" and audition material." $600 min./wk. Equity Casino Contract.
