THE STORY:

When two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again, rediscovering themselves in ways that they--and we--could never have expected.

THE CHARACTERS:

Lotty Wilton, 30, a Hampstead housewife

Mellersh Wilton, 32, her husband, a solicitor

Rose Arnott, 38, a Hamstead housewife

Frederick Arnott, 45, her husband, a writer

Caroline Bramble, 25, a socialite

Antony Wilding, 25, an artist

Mrs. Graves, 70, a London matron

Constanza, 60, an Italian housekeeper

WHAT TO PREPARE:

A 30 to 60 second monologue from a play by one of the following playwrights: Noel Coward, Oscar Wilde, Tom Stoppard, or George Bernard Shaw. Please do your best at a standard British dialect, however, it is not required.

HOW TO PREPARE:

Review the audition information link on "How to Have a Great Audition" for instructions on how to appropriately prepare for department auditions. There will be a British Dialect workshop to help you prepare held on Wednesday, Nov. 30th at 5pm in Snow 105. Copies of the script for "Enchanted April" will be available in the script library for your perusal. If you have further questions, please contact Bro. Bates at batesj@byui.edu.
