Background Players

Currently casting background actors for additional New Testament stories to be filmed during July and August of 2012. (Please read the instructions below carefully!)

We are seeking mostly men who resemble the cultures and races represented within the scriptural account, namely Semitic, Roman, and others of Middle Eastern/Southern European Origin.  Last year we also needed a small number of people who resemble Egyptians, Ethiopians, or peoples from other African nations. 

Need:
  • Disciples, Townsmen: 20+ years old, Middle Eastern or Semitic looking men, beards (longer is better), average or slender build
  • Roman soldiers: 20-50 years old, muscular build, at least 6' tall, weather-worn, shorter cropped beard, some facial hair is a must
  • African townspeople (16+ years old, average to slender build)
  • Women: Middle Eastern or Semitic looking, average or slender build, no permanent makeup please
  • Infirm, Lepers: Middle Eastern or Semitic looking, slender to frail, faces and bodies with lots of character (missing teeth, weathered, wrinkled, missing limbs, etc.)

Steps: (Please read carefully and follow instructions:)
  1. If you are new to our system, you will need to create an LDS Account prior to adding your profile. Visit ldsaccount.lds.org to create your LDS Account. (Note: You do NOT need to be LDS to create an account.) If you already have an LDS Account, then go to step 2.
  2. Create or update your Online Talent Profile at casting.lds.org/app. Make sure your contact information and photos are up-to-date.
  3. Click this button to apply for the New Testament project. You will then receive notification if you are selected to participate.

PLEASE NOTE:
  • Background Players are chosen by appearance.  Please ENSURE that your profile pictures are up to date!  If you are growing a beard, update your picture frequently as it grows. 
    • If you attend BYU and need a beard waiver please email Mandi at SLCasting@ldschurch.org with your full name and student ID number and we will take care of that. 
  • We need many more men than women and very few children. 
  • We will not be having any pregnant women participate this year due to potential health risks.
  •  There is no guarantee about how many times you may be used, if at all.
  •  Background players who are eligible to work in the United States will be paid $100 per day on set.
  • We cannot arrange for lodging or transportation to set.  Please do not commit to being a background player if you cannot make these arrangements yourself.
  • In order to be considered for the duration of the shoot, men will be asked to keep hair and beard growing until two weeks after the end of principal photography. (An exception to this would be those portraying Romans, whose hair and beard will be styled on set as appropriate for the era and culture.)
